Default IC piping coupler keeps popping off during acceleration..........

i am trading my 97 lude for a boosted del sol with a b18 in it but the IC piping keeps poping off under boost. does this sound like just a clamp problem or should i be worried about that?

Its the clamps. You could go out and by some T clamps which will lock that ****** in there for good. Or you could take out the pipping and run a bead of weld across the top so when you put a clamp on it wont move past that bead (unless if you rip it but i could that would happen if you have good couplings).

Doing both is ideal.

what also helps is having pipes with rolled edges for the silicone to slip over than clamp it that ****** wont budge. another way to do it is to just put about 4 little beads (or a ring) of weld around the piping where the silicone slides on.

If you dont have access to a bead roller or a welder you can also thread small machine screws 3-5 evenly around your charge pipe and file them smooth on the inside. slide your boot on and clamp behind the heads of the screws. It's kinda ghetto, but it works well and is easy and quick to do. Best if used as a temporary fix.

Actually works pretty good. Word of advice though, put a little bit of thread locker on the bolts and then put a dab of rtv on each one to ensure a good seal.
