Oil Changes.
Im curious how often you change for oil. Do you do it after youve driven the 3,000 miles, or after the 3 months is up? I hardly drive my car, so the 3 months comes waay faster than the 3k miles it takes me like 5 months to reach 3k. Anyways, im wondering if its ok to just for for the miles, since it wont be more than a few months overdue ( accordings to the little sticker they put on your windshield) or will it hurt my car? My moms bf, who works on school buses for a living, said it wont hurt the car if you wait a few months but id like to hear from people here.
It shouldn't hurt. The oil is just sitting in your car while it's not running and doesnt get dirty. Just as long as the car gets started every once in a while if you really don't drive a lot.
You really don't even need to change it when you hit 3000 sometimes. If you have a lot of highway driving it can last a lot longer. I change my oil when I pull the dipstick and have a hard time reading the dipstick through the oil. I drive on the highway alot and I've gotten 7 or 8k out of one oil change.
yeah NO prob.. BUT olie CAN get old !!.. when "water" from weather and so on gets 2 it.. but change the olie ever 6 months or 4500 miles if you drive normaly (little of this and little of THAT
Yeah leaving it in there should be no real big problem at all... I had my car sit in my garage for about 2-3months before because I went out of state and when I came back it still runned fine. I personally change my own oil after 2k miles only to keep my motor running nice with synthetic of course.

You are just wasting money doing that. Why change the oil and filter when it is and can stil do its job just fine?

lol if your running synthetic you wont need to change ur oil till at least 5000 miles, its funny cuz on bmw's and on high end vw's they say change the oil only every 10,000 miles cuz they run synthetic
but anyways every 3000 miles is good
OEM Filters baby

Every 10k or one year
That's what the manual says for my '05 civic. It also says that changing the oil and filter before this has "absolutely no benefit" and does nothing but increases car ownership. It also says that motor oil besides Honda oil is for temporary replacement only.
for my '96 civic is says every 7500 I think

That is with my dead great grandma behind the wheel and it is also under absolutley ideal conditions. Change it when it can no longer do what it was designed to do.

yeah and for those BMW and VW crap...
it is ALL about owner cost... they will tell you
OUR car can go 24965324986284 miles on 4 liter synt. so dont change.. like on the other cars out there.. they are just pussing the limits !!..
oil WILL wear out .. also comes 2 driving style...
driveing hard or small trips (under 6miles) it hard for oil...
driving freeway only.. it will last longer.. it you dont drive 200 MPH...
