Default SOME of events leading to blown engine??

I have had my 91 civ hatch dx for about 2 months was running good and everything. Couple days ago i got a leak in my oil pan, on the way home i hear a kinda loud boom so i pull over, looks ok and i make it home. But there is a knocking noise.

Replace the oil pan yesterday and let the fluids get going, still knocking but not as much. So my sister takes it a couple places and tells me it just suddenly lost power. Some people are tellen me its a blown engine. The car wil turn on but u press on the gas, and its like it doesnt want to rev. Then it dies . What do you people think? Anyhelp is wanted, thanx.

sounds like you threw a rod bearing because of oil starvation.

Your motor is blown, you spun a rod bearing, and probably did even more damage by continuing to drive it. Time to buy a new engine

search around for a block, you can use any 1.5 or just about any 1.6 bock (no z6 or y8) and stick the head youve got on that block, considering you could find a block complete for 50 bucks i would do that and install it yourself or have someone do it for you.

Maybe for the average Joe off the street who doesnt really know the value of a DX engine, it might sound like an OK price. Personally, thats way too much. If u lived in socal, i'd make u a good deal. Good luck with it.

People give these motors away for free. DON'T pay $700 to have a bone-stock DX motor dropped in. If you are the least bit mechanically inclined, drop it in yourself. Or find a cheap motor and pay a friend to do it.
