Weird starter Problem, Radio, headlights dim? I dont get it. Please help.
well, I go to leave work today, and it cranks like usual, but I let off really quick cause I thought someone called my name to come back, and I try to crank it agian, and nothing. my dash lights are dim, and my Radio is acting funny.
I checked my battery for charge, its a Gel Cell Optima, and its at 12.5 volts. Checked it with my MultiMeter, Checked all my fuses. underhood and dash. all perfect.
I wound up having to push start my car, started up fine. I get home, shut it off, and it wont start up. and my headlights are really dim. along with my dash lights when the lights are on.
Also, somtimes, when I turn on my head lights, it turns my radio off, then back on. thanks guys.

Check all the grounds. My bet is the ground that connects to the starter came loose or broke off at the spade connector. I had a similar problem. Go check, now!
Ill have to do it in the morning. well, If it DID come off. why would it make all my **** dim??? there no power being drawn to anything?
Hmm, when u crank it, do the battery, check engine, and oil light come on and everything dims till u stop tryin to crank it? If so, its most definately a ground, and i'm thinkin its the one from the chassiss to the valve cover.
I forgot about the dimming so i assumed it was that starter ground, but check that too, i had problems with mine and on other cars before.

well, that valve cover wire\ground is mighty small. so I guess ill do a grounding kit, DIY kit of course.
Keep all the Replys comming, Much appricated everyone.

to me it sounds like a faulty ignition switch. i'm not saying the key cylinder with the tumblers, i'm talking about the electronics to it.
what points me to that is
A. the radio clicking off. mine did that, too, its not making a very good connection in the accessory circuit inside there, so the radio clicks off when there's a voltage drop
B. the really slow cranking. my car did that, too. it makes a bad connection in there, so again a voltage drop.
i did a writeup on how to rebuild it, but i forgot to mention in there that they can't always be rebuilt. sometimes the contacts are too worn, and they need replacing.
edit> here's my writeup, but it's kinda worthless with the pics down. i'll try to get them up soon. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1249495

Thanks for the info, but My radio doesnt randomly turn off and on. but Ill keep that ignition **** in mind, if fixing my grounds doesnt work.

hmm.... well I started it today. I had to push start it. and I go to check my voltage, its at about 14.69\70 Fluctuates between the 2. and its steady. I remove the Neg cable on my batt.. and it keeps running (alt test). so I shut it off, and Try to start it up. nothing. before I turn my car on, I turn my head lights on, and my entire dash is dim.
Do you think its my Batt???? or still a ground?
I try to start it agian, and nothing, not even a small, slow crank. Nothing. The starter doesnt even sound like its trying.
Im going to drop by autozone\pepboys\ and pick up some black 4ga, and ring terminals.
I really dont think its my Batt, cause Its a Gel Cell Optima, and its never been fully drained.
When I start it, I can turn on my headlights, everything works like it should, when I shut it off, it goes dim.
