HELP! Check Eng Light, Gauge, Tranny Problems!
I need help bad!! I have a 98 Integra RS Auto. I am 7 hours out of town and I am going back home on Sunday.
Today I was driving my car around town and as soon as I`pulled into the driveway of my cousins house my Check Engine Light came on plus my Gauge cluster shifter light came on in Reverse and D4. After i noticed this I did not know what to think so i disconnected the battery and reconnected it and nothing changed. Since nothing changed I thought I'd see if the car felt any different. I noticed when i was driving my transmission felt like its only in two gears. When i start from stop to go my car takes a while to accelerate and it only shifts into two gears not three. I didnt really push it hard because it was raining but from just cruising it felt like it was stuck in 2nd gear.
What could be wrong?? is it my torque converter?? Why does my gauge look like this?? why is my car doing this?? I need help soon because i need to get back on on Sunday. thanks

I was going to take it to AutoZone but they closed at 8. Sorry if I didnt give more info but if someone experienced the same thing i would please appreciate some answers.

how is the alternator of your car? I ran into a similar situation like this at the old shop. The alternator was dying and the automatic tranny wouldn't shift into 3rd or 4th.
My gf's auto DA had a strange shifting problem, but no CEL's like you. And I took it to a tranny shop and they cleaned the solinoids in the tranny and it made the tranny run 1000x smoother. I'd reccomend this for anyone with an auto tranny and more than 100k on the tranny.

You would be better off replacing the cheaper, more likely problematic range switch as opposed to replacing the expensive control module.
A short in transmission range switch circuit is more than likely the switch itself being bad. If the switch is bad, then obviously the short in the circuit is the switch. Search on the internet for a parts location on the switch.. i think it's on the transmission like i told you before. But look into it. Unless someone sabatoged your wire harness or cut some wires here and there because they were pissed off at you or you were in a nice accident and pushed the chassis up against the wire(s) causing them to chafe a little bit.
Other than that..it's the switch.
