Slave Cylinder Removal


CAUTION:
ˇDo not spill brake fluid on the car, it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.

ˇPlug the end of the clutch pipe with a shop towel to prevent brake fluid from coming out.

1.Disconnect the clutch pipe from the slave cylinder.


2.Remove the slave cylinder from the clutch housing.


3. Install the slave cylinder in the reverse order of removal. NOTE: Make sure the boot is installed on the slave.


BLEEDING THE SYSTEM


4.Bleed the clutch hydraulic system:

ˇAttach a hose to the bleeder screw, and suspend the hose in a container of brake fluid.

ˇMake sure there is an adequate supply of fluid at the clutch master cylinder, then slowly pump the clutch pedal until no more bubbles appear at the bleeder hose.

ˇRefill the clutch master cylinder with fluid when done.

ˇUse only DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid. We recommend Genuine Honda Super Duty DOT

ˇConfirm clutch operation, and check for leaking fluid.

How do compress the thing if its extended out?(the cylinder).. to reinstall it?

 

Its liek the piston is pushed out help?

you can compress it with ur hand....its mad easy....its not as hard as a brake rotor

 

hey what did i do wrong if the new part bursted?

 

there is only one way to make a slave cylinder burst that i can think of.... you have to compress the piston in the slave cylinder without giving the brake fluid room to escape (opening the bleeder vavle). There may be more ways to do it than that, but i'm not aware of them.

 

Changing the slave cylinder is the easiest thing you could possibly do. took me no more than 10 mins to remove and replace. maybe another 5 mins to bleed the lines. but you can depress the cylinder by using just your hand. depress and bolt it on. attach the line and then open the bleeder and pour fluid into the master cylinder and pump the clutch until you have restored pressure. tighten the bleeder valve back up and take it for a drive.

 

You have to loosen the 8mm bleeder valve.

 

Do the threads have to have thread sealant on them?

 

No

 

I've got a week clutch petal n a 2001 crv. It sometimes takes a second for the clutch petal to rise. Does that point to the slave cylinder or the clutch n pressure plate
