Default Another seat pan swap question.

I have a 90 Civic Si with some crap ripped vinyl STD seats because someone wanted my Si seats, and I want to pick up some seats from a Civic Si in my local junk yard... they are MINT!!! Problem is... I think the one in the junk yard is either an 88 or an 89. Now I've heard of people swapping pans and rails between 90-91 seats and pre-1990 seats... but I'm getting mixed search results. Some say it can't be done at all with some seats, some say it can be done but the backrest tilt handle will be on the wrong side (but they will fit)

Someone please shed some light on this for me since nobody wants to look at old threads that I dig up. I want all 4 bolts to line up no matter what, that's why I'm sticking with EF seats instead of DA or DC2 seats which look more comfortable. TIA

i believe the only reason the backrest tilt would be on the wrong side is if you switched passenger side with driver side. i know this because ive thought alot about switching mine, because my passenger si seat is mint, and my driver side is torn all to hell. as for them bolting up, i would be VERY suprised to find out that they dont just bolt up, especially ef to ef. another thing that might interest you as far as seats go, my friend has some nice 92-95 seats in his 91 dx, and all it took was a 2 inch long metal L shaped bracket and 2 holes to make the seats fit perfectly. 3 of the 4 holes just line up right, but the 4th hole was like 3/4 inch to the left. someday ill get some pics up of it, but it didnt require a seat pan swap at all. something to think about, cause mint si seats are hard to come by now. either way i say buy them and if they dont happen to work, im sure you could turn around and sell them if they are descent.

You're definitely right about selling them if they don't work... oh well, I guess that's a good enough reason to buy them. I'll see what modifications (if any) I need to make to put them in and post the info.

yeah, i think the ONLY issue there might be the year difference... i know there are a lot of little quirky things that dont work from the earlier cars from the same generation, things like door mounted seatbelts and stuff. but deffinetly let us know cause this is something i am interested in knowing as well.

Yeah man, I actually posted in that thread too, but nobody likes to reply to old threads. I'm sure it'll be fine. I got seats from an 89 HB this morning for my 90 HB.
