b16 build up

Default b16 build up

I have a b16 just bought type r intake manifold, edelbrock 65 mm tb, i know i need cams to get the most out of my air flow, what else should i consider on a tight budget. i know with the type r cams a must is the valve springs and retainers. Should this do the job.

vafc or something to tune.......just did this with my head and got 12whp topend with Power FC.

Do you have the usual bolt-ons; I/H/E? I would say a good header and exhaust should be had first.

if your gonna change the whole valve train, dont go w/ R cams get some skunks stage 2's w/ skunk valve train. lot more bang. jus my opinion

yea you may want to get the dual valve springs for the intake and exhaust and titanuim retairer so you can rev it high with no prob

Maybe its just me, but I think he has the right idea with OEM parts. Without having the Titanium retainers coated they're going to gall on him once he gets some milage on the motor which risk them breaking and damaging the head.

He already knows he needs the type R dual springs and retainers.

He does'nt specify "dual" and the titanuim retainer dont break there stronger than the stock ones as well as lighter and coated????? what the hell would they be coated with ??

you have much to learn.

type R valve springs only come as dual valve springs. while you are right about titanium being stronger and lighter, its actually softer than the OEM steel retainers. coating the titanium with Titanium Nitride makes them harder so they can hold up much longer.

No **** I know the type-r's come with dual springs the coating issue never heard before but like you said titanuim strong and lighter .......right ???
so your saying that they would not be worth investing in ...correct??

yeah, titanium retainers are great for high hp motors. The just aren't meant for being in the same motor for 10k+ miles. They're more for a season of racing in a race car. Once they are coated with the TiN coating they are just as good as OEM. its only like $100 for the coating.

Yeah here's my car 93 si hb, b16, intake, header, exhaust, msd, spark plugs

Now i want to use genuine oem parts from either itr or ctr. i read from some of kid on a forum he didn't get the air flow power he wanted with the itr manifold and tb. so i know i need cams, valve springs and retainers. i'm going to use genuine type r parts for this application. thanks all your help. should this allow my engine to get what i want out of my tb and manifold.
