tranny grinds?
Ok so I put the standard SI tranny in my car yesterday and as soon as I started to drive it was grinding sometime. It drove fine and shifted with no grinds. It would just start to grind while it is under load sometimes. Today I decided to drin the fluid and I found a ball bearing in the oil. Is that part of the main bearing or what?
sounds like your syncros are bad, but not to sure about the bearing in your oil, that is scary ****......I would replace the tranny if it is missing a bearing, doesn't sounds like it will be long itll it fails
otherwise you could try some GM syncromesh friction modified see if that fixes it

if you just bought the tranny, try to get your money back.

You have a damaged ISB or second countershaft bearing. If it doesn't grind during shifting, the two bearings cost a total of $50, and take about 30 minutes to change with the tranny out.
If I were to turn the music up you wouldn't know there was anything wrong. It drives great. Just the noise comming from the tranny. How easy is it to replace the bearings considering I know lots about cars but never really replaced internals in a tranny?
