Hello, The problem is my tranny is making noise through each gear. I went to a Honda-Acura Specialist and they told me it was the Main Bearing and the Counter Bearing that was causing the noise and they threw me a price in the 5-600 range. I have no idea what im about to get into so i need advice. 5-600 couldnt that get me a decent tranny? or would it be more reliable to go with the shop and have them fix my current transmission? ADVICE would be greatful!

First put on your flame suit, no need for all caps in title, but for 500-600 I would just get another tranny.

But would it be better to go that route? i mead reliability wise. I dont want to go buy a used tranny and have the same problem with that one.

Oh yeah, I "CAPPED" it on purpose so I can stand out and grab some attention.

its up to you. you can do the job yourself easily. i have my tranny apart right now, it took me all of like 30 minutes, and that was because i didnt know about a snap ring. all the bearings and seals cant cost that much, maybe like 300-400 bucks and then you have a rebuilt tranny. only thing is you gotta pull it yourself

Fudge sickle.... Ive been calling places and asking for tranny's and their telling me 600 for rebuilt tranny installed. If I had the tools and a garage to do the work myself, I would. Can anyone refer me to a reliable shop in San Diego? Or can anyone help me out with the labor? like do it for me? make some $$$

Anyways...the job is definitely a pain in the ***. I've done my fair share of input shaft bearings, and IMHO its harder to do than a full swap. Look for a 96-00 Civic EX tranny with low miles and no grinds.

I found a honda-acura junk yard that has rebuilt trannsmissions (rebuilt everything) with installation for 650 but they take 2-3 days and i have to give them my tranny in exchange

And another reputable place that will do just the bearings for 600 that takes half a day but who knows what other problems they might find along the way right?

So should i just get the whole rebuilt transmission at the junk yard for 50 more or go to the reputable shop and just get the bearings done. Sorry for the stupid question but its the last one i promise.
