Default ***Honda motor serial numbers- URGENT

I bought a "D16Y8" head and I was told it was a Y8. I took it to the shp and the shop said it's not a Y8.

How can i find out what head it is from the serial number that's stamped on it. Is that even possible?

Will these do?
The red is because he told me my old Y8 has a groove where the red is.

If i see that correctly then this pic says its P2J-3 which is y8. Can you get a better pic of this? Basically get a better pic, or tell us the code above the number 3 exhaust port.

I'm almost positive it's a y8... it's definately got VTEC, (there are ports for the VTEC solenoid)... and the combustion chambers are squared off...

The z6 has rounded combustion chambers and the y8's are squared.

Looks like you have yourself a y8 head

alright guys, I found out the truth.

It is a Y8 head. HOWEVER, apparently the 96-98 differs A LITTLE from 99-00 Y8 on the intake manifold part.

The 99-00 has a little ventelation champter than the 96-00 don't have.

I'll post picks up tonight when I get the camera from my sister.

The shops says that little groove will mess with teh back pressure.

So I'm gonna see what's the difference between the 96-98 and 99-00 Y8 intake manifold.

In thoery, I can just get 96-98 Y8 intake manifold and be good to go.

Are you talking about the air injection? Yeah - no big deal - plug it up like the rest of us and call it a day. If you didn't seal it up, you'd have idle problems for sure.
