Getting anxious...

 

Just read it the other night over my boys house. Weird how he has april edition in the middle of feb., I guess membership has its priveleges.
Anyway, I got bored of reading it. It wasnt that great of a tech artice. They said they got like 8 hp out of 25 min of tuning by some guy from AEM. Crappy thing is he had to leave after that 25 min and the other people had no clue what they were doing, so they just wasted a couple of pages by basically making the article a glorified sales advertisment.

I never really trust the articles I read in magazines becuase if you think about it, companys such as AEM etc pay to have their product advertised. So, in turn they pay a little extra to make their product look really good.
But, Im sure the AEM will be a good product just like the other stuff they make.

I hope so. The article was pretty much an ad for the EMS.

 

For example... the AEM CAI bypass valve and AEM Cam gears... both of which are absolutely stellar...

 

Well I have one in my car and I am just trying to get the just of using it, but it is a very nice piece of equipment. You can adjsut almost every parameter in the car. It is just kinda tough to get used to, but then again I havent been into tuning carts for 15 years either. WE are getting it though and taking our time in getting it right. The only thing I wish is that it came with a map for a JRSC'd car.

 

Could someone tell me if AEM EMS can remove the rev limit?

 

uhhh, yeah I would think so. No, Im sure it will.

 

Have you guys read the CD it came with? Pretty good stuff. I haven't even install it on the car yet and the CD already educated me alot about the system.
BTW, it is a full stand alone system and I think it's alittle advance than Hondata, not saying hondata is not up to the task but it designed alittle more towards delicated racers and tuners but you get to pay the price difference. No burning rom chips, and wire cutting, and it also saves multiple fuel maps set by you and saved in your computer so you can load it for track use, street application, or even to cut your lawn. Just like Speed pro and haltech, it completely control all parameters. For full race car, it come with maps just for starting the car and warm up since some car had their IAC, Fastle removed for race purpose. That mean, you can fine tune the car so well that some common idle problem, startiing problem from heavily modified vehicles can be cured by setting the maps right in your labtop. Timing is totally control by EMS, no BTM needed or even J&S but I still recommend it just for varible knock-timing control for maximum timing advantage. I post this because I have seen way too many Hondata fans flaming other standalones. Hondata is a nice system budget wise but so many claims it can out perform others. I was once gonna go Hondata but after I discovered that there is alot of disadvantages, I decided I am going to go with a standalone that I can fully utilize and ease of changing maps and setting them. I cannot agree by soldering a chip in a stock ECU is called a true standalone and yes someone has flamed me for calling hondata " still sound like a piggyback with standalone feature", did I say something wrong to this guy, I hope not.

 

theres nothing wrong with their cam gears. you could say the same about any cam gears where the owner doesnt tighten them correctly..

I thought there was a supercharge map on the disc or was it for a gsr?

 

Are those cam gears on the engine when it's running, or just on the engine when it's being displayed?

 

I can tell you a car they/we sponsor uses many AEM components.

So ekb18c, have to installed and tuned one yet? How much for installing a turbo system, along with three gauges (boost, fuel pressure, egt), turbo timer, 550cc injectors, and aem ems (bought, installed and tuned by you) on a h22a4?

We have done 99 civic w/ b18c turbo, and 92-95 civic w/ b18c high compression. The turbo hatch put out 435whp, which was pretty good. What kind of number are you hoping to push 98psi ITR?

 

pretty similar numbers at as a low boost as possible. Basically whatever I can get out of this turbo which should be around 450ish or 20-24psi. I'll need to tune a few settings around 12-15psi for daily use.
