did a compression test, wondering about my results
so with my new b20z/b16 head all stock block/head i did a compression test while it was a little warm, but not fully warmed up i read 150psi accross all cylenders +/-3psi, that seems low to me, what would you say? warm it all the way up? or could there be a problem?
The actual number can fluctuate from gauge to gauge. Cheap ones tend to read low. Consistancy between cylinders is what is most important. Looks like you have a healthy engine there, I wouldn't worry.
o well thats good news, i didnt think it could be bad, the block has 2400 miles on it, and if your right about the guage reading low, mine is a harbor frieght one lol
Put the throttle pedal to the floor when doing a compression test. Closed throttle dosen't allow enough air flow to pump thruogh the engine for the accurate results.
Elevation has some affect on it as well. But as long as compression is close between each cylinder, you are all good.
Leak down would tell you more though.

ya everything seems to add up more and more now.....
1) most important is consistancy, which it was VERY consistant
2) shitty gauges read low, it was a harbor frieght
3) high elevation would read lower, im at over 4k feet
