Accord 5 speed SS swap....
Ok... I searched and didn't find what I was looking for. If I missed something.... sorry...
I noticed my tranny slipping in the higher rpm range yesterday so I am starting to seriously look @ doing the manual conversion. Now $$ is pretty tight now and I have been able to find quite a few 5 speed trannys out of accords, cheap. My question is this.
Which parts will be a, more or less, direct swap? I know the tranny. I am curious about the pedals, and the shifter assembly.
I know someone here has had to do this swap. If anyone has any input it would be really appreciated. I have read the write up over @ absolute prelude on the manual conversion, and I think it is definately within my abaility. I would just like to know as much as possible ahead of time.
Thanks a bunch guys

Tranny Mount-250
Starter-150
Clutch-320 (ACT)
Flywheel-309 (Fidanza)
Shift Linkage, Pedal Assembly, Axles, Clutch Master Cylinder, Hydraulic Lines (500 bux for all that stuff)
tranny mount you don't need to buy but you will need the mount bracket for much less than 250.00
the starter are the same on manual or auto tranny so you can use as long the one you have works
clutch and flywheel you can get an oem exedy replacement for about 225.00
shift linkage or the shifter assembly will cost you around 525.00 new from honda and probably 125.00 less use from the junkyard
clutch pedal and/or brake pedal could run for about or around 150.00ea or you can cut you brake pedal instead of buying one save money there and buy the clutch pedal, you can get one from a 4th gen prelude is the same pedal for probably less than 150.00 on a junkyard
axles you do not need one of this for the swap you will need the intermedite(drive)shaft and you could get it for something between 20.00 to 150.00
as for the clutch master cylinder you can get one of ebay for 50.00 and the slave cylinder for 40.00 but the tranny should come with the slave
Hydraulic Lines should come with the tranny if not you can get them for around 50.00 new from honda http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/home.htm
Manual ECU (Or rewire the Auto ECU)- Rewired
Clutch Damper Assebly
and ecu with immobilizer thingy. I tihnk thats it. If not add on to the list. Up.
yes you will probably need to change your ecu for one from a manual prelude but if running short on cash you can use the one you have but it will feel weird and no you can not reprogram the auto ecu to perform as manual don't work.
you don't need to buy an immobilizer because if you reprogram the manual ecu you just need to make new key and i hear to reprogram an ecu by honda will cost you about 80.00 plus the new set of keys are 20.00ea
if you search for the parts the right way and on the right places it could all come to a grand total of 2000.00 or less depending on your luck plus labor will be no less than 500.00
i will advice you to buy the helms shop manual its a great tool to have around http://www.helminc.com/helm/ho...DDK94

Thanks for the help doug.
I think if I can use the stuff off the donor accord I can get everything for under $500 with the exception of the ecu. I am probably going to get one of the hondata units that has already been chipped so I can wideband tune with uberdata. I will go with a p72 at the very least.
Now from my research it looks like the clutch master cylinder and pedals "should" work out of an accord. I guess my biggest concern is the tranny mount and the shifter assembly. Can I use the tranny mount (rear) off the accord? Can I use the accord 5 speed shifter in my 5th gen prelude? In the accord forum the guys that did the auto-to-manual conversion said you could re-drill the auto mount to work with the manual tranny. I wonder if this is true on the prelude as well.
As far as the shifter assembly. If I can use the accord parts that will save me even more $$$. As far as labor is conserned I plan to do the work myself. I am just trying to do as much homework before I hit the salvage yards as I can. It is well into the 90's here in Mississippi and I am going to spend as little time in the junk yards as possible.
And back to the ecu.... this is a little off topic, but does anyone have the infor for a diy obd1-to-obd2 prelude ecu wireing harness. I can probably just cut off the ecu with plugs on the donor car or one of the older obd1 cars out there.
Also just for a little clarification does anyone know if I can reuse my auto axle shafts with the accord tranny?
thanks for the help guys. I will try to keep this up to date with the project progess.

The auto P5M ECU from his 5th gen can be converted to manual very easily:
