Seriously considering destroying my car unless i get this fixed. [distributor]
So to make a long story short, my car had its rev limiter set at 2500 and was throwing crank position code. I took my dizzy off and got another from autozone. I put it on my car and it ran, but not very well. So i adjusted the distributor and it didnt run at all. I spent eternity trying to get it to at least run again moving it forward and backwards (distributor) for a while with NO luck. Im getting sick of my car having problems and if this isnt an easy fix, im going to destroy it.
Oh, and to make things even better, its still throwing code 4.

well i worked for 12 hours today and got home to do this, so i didnt check that. Id assume so since it started. The only thing that changed was that I changed the dizzy timing a little to see if it woudl run smooth. I put it back where it was and it didnt run again.
Also, i REALLY REALLY want to know why its throwing CKP (4) Ive posted like 5 threads within the past couple weeks and it seems like they just go ignored, and its VERY frustrating to me because i have to work early in the morning almost every day, and i have no car.
Forgot to mention Its a 95 EX. OBD 1.

new rotor.
cap is fine
the wires wouldnt have gone bad all of a sudden. yes its possible, but its not probable. They also wouldnt make it throw crankshaft position sensor, which i really want to find out most.
sorry if im being stubborn, im just REALLY frustrated with my car. Im seriosuly starting to hate it. Its a lemon.

I imagine that the dizzy came w/ a lifetime warrenty, correct? If so, return it & try another one - at least that would rule out the dizzy being the issue. If that doesn't fix it, try another ecu.
I just suggested the other stuff, b/c it never hurts to rule each piece of the system out when trouble shooting.

I thought Crankshaft Position Sensors were only on obd2 engines (?) Ive had two DX's and no SOHC motor i have worked on. My ITR motor has one but is not hooked up. Someone correct me if im wrong...
The Crank Position Sensor is in the camshaft end of the dizzy, probably got a code from it if you tried to set the timing waaay off.
Get a timing light and try to set it the right way, not everyone can eyeball it.

when u say u set the dizzy back to where it was and it didnt fire.. did u bother to set the timing on the cam?
to get the right timing on ignition u need to set the cam to TDC.. then point the arrow in the dizzy to the #1 position..
its not easy to time it unless your at TDC... trust me.. i spent a good week here and there trying to set my cam/crank timing... dizzy should be alot easier as u can check TDC just by lifting the timing belt cover off

oh man , i'm feeling the same way as you. after working on my distributor for weeks. i finally found what the problem was. the damn thing wasn't made for mine.(i bought it from ebay). i'm going to go buy a brand new one and install it today.
Since AutoZone distributors are known to be bad out of the box, return it for another one.
You should really stick to OEM when it comes to ignition components.

screw that. I'd rather have a lifetime warrenty on a dizzy, it's not like they are hard to install.
