trying to install my axles and I cant get them in by pushing them or shoving them in the hole.

aam i supposed to hammer them in? how?

there is like an inch of axle that is not going in the hole. i just got this trans off a motor so i know the trans is good.

you don't really have to use a hammer, just be persistent with it they'll go in you'll probably get tired but it'll work, i did it around a week ago on the tyranny there is a little ring that lock on to the tranny, so just do the old in out on the axle, it'll pop in there, trust me, on the wheel hub try moving the joint of the axle up and down so it aligns with rotor, you can hammer the rotor in the middle a little if you want.

 

ok big problem now.

ive got the axle in but there is like a 16th of an inch of space between the axle and the tranny and fluid is leaking!!!!!!!!!!! ive aligned it perfectly and hammered really hard witha sledge on the hub and it still wont go in.

 

did you damage the seal by chance?

leaking is also an sign of wrong axle.

did you use the right axle?

if you say you did have the right axles... maybe check the pin on the end of the axle

 

Dont put anything on it (no jb, no hondabond)
Should have used a rubber mallet or a deadfall hammer. You may have damaged the seals, something in the way, or its the wrong one

 

yes it is the right axle. I havnt swapped axles all I did was take them out of the tranny so I could swap trannies.

i dunno what to do...i might just take it to a shop. i look at the pin on the end and it seemed fine...

 

I have takin out and put in my axles about 7 times now... (long story) and I never had a problem getting them in... check the seals around the output shafts.. you will probably have to take the axles back off.. when putting them back on get them straight with the tranny housing.. (like horizontal) and twist it while you try to get it in... the sledge hammer idea was definitely a bad one. not needed at all. check the seals...

Another tip is to unbolt the LCA and the steering linkage from the steering knuckle and put the axle in the hub and put the axle nut on it... then get the whole unit even with the tranny and use the steering knuckle to pop the axle back into place (if it doesn’t go the first few pops try twisting the axle while popping it in...) Good luck... oh bty a shop will charge to much for this job.. if you swapped tranys you can do this yourself. Good luck
