get it on a dyno, that's the only way to do it so you MAKE power...and that's the point, right?

the tuning place should know how to do it for you...

here's a link to an adjustment guide...

Just set them at 0,0 until you get the car to a dyno.

Do you have a VAFC or some type of fuel controller? B's are not drop in.

You are going to have to lean it out a little at idle to keep it running... http://godspeed.hack.net/images/Camgeardirfinal.jpg
That is also a instruction sheet on how to adjust and read the TODA gears. Ask Yack about the best setting, to remain running, to use with the V-AFC and Bs out of the box, I usually have to tinker with the settings to get it right, he has them memorized...

This is unrelated, but is it ok to just drop in spec Bs? I have a set in my living room, but I was going to wait until I can get my ECU, injectors and maybe a thin head gasket to put them in. Could I just drop in the cams, spring and retainers and drive it around with the stock maps?

If you don't know how to adjust your cam gears, and won't take the advice of everyone on this board that you should leave them alone until you get to a dyno, then you definately do not need a Power FC. Unless you're on a suicide mission to blow up your car. If no one understands the "Japanese stuff" then they definately won't understand the Power FC.

well...he obiviously did drop them in. WHat I'm asking is could I or him damage our engines by dropping them in. Please refrain from responding if you don't have anything construtive to contribute.

Listen, these guys ARE trying to help you out. Spec B's aren't for the fickle. Will you damage anything? MAYBE. Will you gain power? NO. NOT WITHOUT TUNING. They are not drop-in. And you WILL lose power over stock cams without tuning.

I seriously doubt you can get Spec B's to run without fuel management. You didn't mention other mods - B's with a stock exhaust manifold will probably end up costing you power across the board.

Pat's Minimum Requirements for Toda Spec B Cams:
1) JDM-style (2.5" collector) header
2) V-AFC or equivalent for fuel tuning
3) Some damn sense

Pat.... LOL!
Yea you need a VAFC, valvetrain, nice 2.5" collector header, high flow cat, exhaust,
and some dyno tuning.
The power FC is a bad idea unless you have gobs of money to dyno tune and someone who knows how to use it (which are very few).
These guys are only trying to help you, i just slapped in a set of B's, would get smoked by i/h/e Si's and blew my motor.
So listen to them they know what they are doing.

What other mods do you have on your car? Are you the one that is looking to purchase my PowerFC? It is difficult to run the TODA B's without some sort of fuel adjustment ie. VAFC, custom ECU, PowerFC....give me a call on my cell.

Patrick - You were running a stock Si valvetrain, right? That's what caused your problem. I'm still running the stock R valvetrain (6k miles so far, so good) with no problems. I will upgrade at some point though.

thank you...this is the answer I was looking for. I don't want to drop them in and leave them, but it's a good drive to a shop expirenced in tuning them. I was simply asking if it is safe to drive them on the base maps.
That misunderstanding cleared the plan is to use a p28 w/hondata. Could I get a rom set up for my particular setup and drive it for sometime untill I got a few days to get my car to a hondata expirenced shop and not expect to break anything. The problem isen't that I want to just throw parts onto my car, I just don't trust any shops in my area to tune my car with these mods, and I work a lot, so getting the time to both install cams, springs, retainers, headgasket, header, injectors and do the obd2 to obd1 conversion and spending prob 2 more days getting to a shop, getting some dyno time and coming home isn't practical.
