Default best h22 header

i was wondering what would be a nice header for street use prolly up to 1000 dollars. Do you think its worth it to spend that much or should i get a cheap one. Plz suggestions.

No its not rediculous, if you are going the NA route the header is one of the most important things you can buy.

Search and you will find all you want to know about headers, Prospeed, SMSP...

Hey bro I am in the same position as you......I have 1200 on hand and I am not sure which header to get. I looked on SMSP, Brospeed, and RMF. Three wonderful headers. I seen SMSP take first on header challenge and I have seen RMF on a recent thread that took first on headers challenges. Prospeed, I never seen them on a challenge (YET) but I heard nothing but goodthings and I was told If I decide to go prospeed to save the extra money and just get SMSP. Pretty much I narrowed my choices down to SMSP and RMF. SO I am in a bad situation. I care less the price I just want what's going to give me the most gains possible.

RMF and SMSP are great designs. I seen the b series test and the RMF came out on top and SMSP came in at a close 2nd and 3rd, but that was a b series. i wanna see RMF and SMSP go at it on a H series.

i seen the gains from a SMSP on a H series and its in the double digits.

There are some good headers out there, but they require tuning after installing. If you're on a budget, save some money for tuning or you may run lean after a aggressive header installment.

I was running the Prospeed for a while, but had issues with cracking. I then switched to a Greddy and did the 2 1/2" collector mod, felt almost the same, but on the dyno without tuning and no other changes I lost quite a bit of hp. My Hondata program wanted something completely different for the Greddy header, and I was unable to tune the Hondata because I didn't have a laptop w/ romeditor. I played with my FPR for coarse adjustments and ended up 13 whp less than my Prospeed header, I could probably make the whp loss around 5-8 w/ Hondata tuning. I lost a total of 2 lb/ft of torque, but I need to do Hondata tuning to get an accurate comparison. After my tests though, I realize that a more custom header is definately worth the $$. I got to test all of this, because I got to had full access to a dyno this past weekend, to say the least I was disappointed with my current header. The Greddy header w/ collector mod seems to want the vtec x over about 700rpms lower, but I was unable to change it due to the lack of laptop w/ Romeditor. The Prospeed header liked alot more fuel than my current header and I was unable to tune that either. If I had the money I would definately go RMF/ SMSP/ Hytech.
