MSD 6A Ignition Box Problem
Ok, I tired to hook up my MSD 6a ignition box and coil Thursday and it didn't come through good. Quick over view to what I hooked up to what wires on the ignition box...
Heavy Red - Battery +
Heavy Black - Battery -
Black - Coil -
Orange - Coil +
White - White/Blue off original coil
Red - Black/Yellow off original coil
When I hooked it all up this way car didn't start, but when I just hooked up the Blaster 2 Coil by itself fired right up.... if anyone knows what might be my problem let me know Thanks

make sure that your grounds are good. basically check all your connections. and make sure that the dizzy plugs are plugged in, i'v for got to hook them up after modifying the dizzy lots of times.
My 90 DA with B18A.... I guess I could make sure I got a better ground, I hooked it up straight to the battery and thought it'll be ok. Is there any wires I can test some how to make sure power or whatever is going to them?
Ok, solved the problem.
These wires
White - White/Blue off original coil
Red - Black/Yellow off original coil
were backwards. When I switched them around it fired right up but with a nasty misfire, I checked the ground and it was kinda crap so I fixed it, started it and purred like a kitten. Does anyone know why my car would have it workin with those wires running to the opposite than what MSD directions say.... or I guess those directions are just a general idea for Imports??
for anyone with future problems with a OBD 0 DA or any for that fact

Well... I found out the hard way that ignition box is VERY VERY picky. I followed the instructions exactly the way MSD shows it... nothing... than I switched the 2 wires that go to the black/yellow & white/blue wires and fired up. At this point I had it just rigged to see if it'll work and than I took my time and put it where my stuff was going... after that... no start... apparrently I had a bad ground but it SEEMED ok... fixed it a little, started than a KILLER misfire... than I redid the ground on 1 of those little 10mm bolts right near the dizzy and used a little loop ring, crimped it, and fired up.... so in the long run with my problems, check ALL your connections excepially that damn ground. Make sure the only wires you switched to try and make it work like I did was the black/yellow & white/blue wires... BUT my car is OBD-0 so don't know is it'll be different.... keep me posted... I'll try and snap some pics of mine if needed
