racerx, when you were talking about the compression being to high for turbo, i just need a little clarification. What is the rule of thumb when it comes to compression ratio and boost? Im just thinking that a real ctr runs a 11:1 ratio right?and im sure someone has put a turbo on a ctr. I am assuming that they lower the compression by some means right. Sorry for my ignorance, im just trying to learn. I did a search under compression ratio and came up with very little.
i'm just going by what i read on here. generally people are running between 8.5:1 to 10:1 compression. as the compression gets higher it becomes more difficult to maintain steady cylinder pressures under boost (pinging or knocking). the higher compression ratio engines can handle boost it is just generally less boost or you have to have very good tuning to prevent detonation.
With a 11:1 comp ratio your tuning window is severly cut down. The bright side to things is that you dont have to run as high of boost levels to achieve decent hp numbers. It really all comes down to tuning. I know that Stoopid on clubsi.com regularly turns out high compression forced induction engines that are running 10psi on pump gas. You should chat with him...check the Got Boost forum...he can give you answers that you need with your set-up.
