Default Suit and Helmet arrived - first impressions....

Pyrotect Nasa-I suit is heaavvyy - it's TWO layers. But it's got alot of knit area so I'm expecting it to live up to their "up to 24 degrees cooler" claims. I notice that in the latest Pegasus catalog the OMP suits have incorporated knit arm cuff's and a claim of increased cooling. Zipper is YKK - which always gives me great relief to find because they are the best zippers in the world. I'll try it on tonite.

Bell SR-Pro is very light for a fiberglass helmet, I was really surprised. I got a large for my head that measures approx 23.25, and it is pretty tight - tight enough that I'm not sure that it's not too tight. I will wear it for a half hour or more tonite (while I loiter on this board) to see if I get a headache (from the helmet). I can't beleive this: I can put it on OVER my glasses - which is a good thing because it is damn near impossible to thread my glasses over my ears thru the eye port - I have to work it to un-fold-over my ears to start with.

Scott, who will be styling at home tonite...."flame suit" on was always just a figure of speech before....

Edited to change layer count - my friend was on crack and lost count at two and rounded up.....

SR-Pro gets my , I've only used it in anger once though, go-karting. Worked like a charm, comfortable yet snug. Gotta love that new helmet smell, too

Glad to hear you got the suit. The helmet will break in quite a bit. Enjoy.

Yes, a TIGHT helmet now will mean a snug helmet later, which is the safest and most comfortable way for a helmet to fit

the thought of someone slouching over the keyboard, on honda-tech while wearing a racing helmet makes me laugh.

I know that there's some break in or seating so to speak - though I don't think this is one of those Bells that form to one head only (aren't those the ones with the white liner?)

I have a Mag-4 I've been wearing for a couple of years in 7-5/8 and it's very good fitting without being uncomfortably tight. Bell told me that they used to put people into larger helmets till a year or so ago - and now they run closer to size. Nothing beats having them all right in front of you to try on, but that's usually impossible. I don't want to play musical helmets only to find that this one is the best available fit after all.

Scott, who needs shoes now....and that's gonna be a chore....I've been wearing some Nike wrestling shoes that I've never liked the soft sole on (of course now I'm used to it), so now I've got to find a proper racing shoe (high top) with a slightly stiffer sole if I can find one...

I was able to stop by and get a photo of Scott trying on his driving suit.

That's not me! And my new suit doesn't have the sub belt built into the briefs!

Scott, who's suit has "racing" stripes......

Ahhhh... Nike Wrestling shoes. I once found them for $9.99 a pair at a local store and bought 3 pairs. Great for autocrossing.

Scott, who's SR Pro has served him well for 5 years, but doesn't really have that "new" smell anymore. The smell is what we in te south refer to as "The Helmet Funk."
Time for a new SR Pro.

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! I hope the cape is Nomex too.

I will wear it for a half hour or more tonite (while I loiter on this board)
Glad to know I'm not the only one who sits around in full race garb reading Honda-Tech. I'm currently seeing a therapist for that though.

Hmmm, after about 20 minutes my new SR-Pro gives me a pretty serious headache. I think it is too small. Have any of you had one so tight, and had it break in?

Scott, who thinks maybe if the next size up is a little loose a headsock will make up the difference....otherwise I'm going to have to change models and get into fractional sizing....

My Bell M2 would cause my head to throb and gave me an ever so slight headache. After about half a season i didn't even notice it anymore. Definately loosened up. Dunno if yours is too tight, only you can answer that.

After I got my helmet, I went out and sat in my car with it on for like 20 minutes. I was going to drive around with it on, but I was worried the pooolice would take issue with that. My neighbors were entertained though.
