what type of helmets are all of you using and how much did it cost? i've been interested in the helmets w/ the face th at flips up so it turns into an open fce helmet. Thought that might be a kinda nice feature.

 

What are you talking about? I have NEVER heard of a full face that flips up to an open-face. If it is just a flip-up visor you are talking about then that is still not an open face helmet. Any visor that comes on a full face helmet flips up. Did you do a search? Helmets are an issue that we cover all the time here.

I use a Bell M2 Pro full face Snell SA2000. I got it on closeout for $400.



What are you looking to get the helmet for? Different things require different ratings. If you are just autocrossing then an open face is ok but if you are running track events then an open face is a safety concern - just ask Dale Earnhardt.

They do make helmets like that, my parents have a pair for when they ride their motorcycle. They are not Snell approved though.

Anybody have any reviews on the Bieffe Predator? I was thinking of picking up one of those.

 

Ummm . . . I am not sure I see the value of that but I guess I am wierd.

 

The flip-up face is actually a very nice feature on hot days. There are times that it's nice to flip the face up and get some air. You can ride with the face flipped for that matter.

I don't really see a purpose for it inside a car though.
