Default Nissan head possibly buying a 94 Civic DX coupe, need research info

Sup guys,I've been a nissan head for a while now.I've been with altimas.net now nissanclub.com since 2001 so I basically know all of the possibilities the nissan altima have.My 94 altima is still stock,I have 2 choices mod the altima which is also automatic btw,or find something else that's manual and easier to mod.I've found a 1994 civic dx coupe with 12x,xxx miles for $2300 and I'm also selling the altima for $2300,I have some questions about the civic

1)does it have the same engine as the ex model?edmunds gave me 2 different hp numbers so I'm guessing different engines

2)does the engine have vtec?I believe the ex engine is SOHC vtec?

3)is the stock engine on a dx something that is worth modding?basic bolt ons I mean,I/H/E cams, etc etc

4)does the engine respond well to modding?what are some HP figures I would get with some basic bolt ons?track times?

5)I saw that the dx doesn't come with power windows, does it have power door locks?is it hard to swap power windows/locks from an ex?

6)Should I pursue this honda or is this a waste of money and I should stick with the nissan?please try not to be biased..

thanks

No, it has a 1.5 liter nonvtec engine
You would be much happier swapping the dx engine out for a b series engine or going straight to turbo
It was never designed to be a power engine and doesnt really respond to mods
Power locks/windows is very common

Having never driven a nissan I cant say stick with it or sell it. Hondas are very simple cars that I absolutely love...so I cant be anything but biased

Keep the altima and do an RB swap .
Lots of work but it would probably be different.

Sounds stupid, but I love the RB26.

SR swaps are VERY hard and expensive, let's not even go to RB's

No its not.
DX is faster....this is info for a 96 dx which is heavier than the 92-95.

Heres info on a 97 altima which is the only documented one from a magazine, there is a listing for a 94 which is a couple tenths faster.

2.4 I believe for the most part its the same as the 240's except it has a FWD tranny obviously. I also think if I remember correctly, my 95 S14 had 155hp and 160lbs ft or maybe it was 150lb. ft.... either way its right around there.

yea the altima has a 2.4 engine hence the name KA24,93-97 have 150hp and 155tq,98-2001 have a different body style btw and they are a little heavier. Those numbers are correct for an auto tho, slips from altimas.net shows auto altys running mid 16's to low 17's,manuals range from mid 15's to low 16's
