please help identify this wire!!! pics too!
hey guys.. i just got my 1992 prelude from the shop.. it went in to get r12 recharged for the a/c system.. thank god the a/c compressor wasnt shot.. the tech told me that it works fine now but there are a few fishy items that he brought to my attention..
first... he said that it seems like "someone" cut/splice in to this harness next to this plug/switch. the switch goes next to the condesor and a tube feeds it into a "liquid tank." so basically that switch that goes into the condessor fan is not hooked up. the wires is blu/yellow and blu/blk. the pic belows should be easy to spot out. now what the heck is this? does anyone know what the colours of these wires coresponds to?

heres another view

hey also said that it seem like the condesnor fuse blew out.. so he replaced it.. and what ended up happening is that the condensor fan does not turn off.. it stays on ALL the time.. so could that "hacked" up wire be the problem?
he also mentions that i need a a/c compressor relay cause the fan clutch will turn on intermediatly/. so i gotta replace that too.. here's a pic of said relay

if any one knows what those wires are please let me know..
i'm assuming that a plug that has been cut should be reattached to the right wires to the harness.. but i'm unsure and scared of trying to connect them if i dont know what they are.. also.. does anyone know where to get on of these said "relay???" thanks in advance guys!

you probably bought a car that had overheating problems, and so the fan was jumped to always be on....
i would personally jump it in and wire it with the other fan, that way they both turn on when the engine gets hot.....but thats only because i dont have ac, if you want ac wire the fan back up how it should be....
the blue wire with the yellow strip is probably constant power, and the blue wire with the black strip is probably switched power, and now they are jumped to always give constant power to the switched line.....you need to just reconnect the blue/yellow wire and cut the splice off the blue/black one....
its hard to tell if that connector actually comes off the blue/black, and that would be weird because black usually means ground....
that switch is probably the pressure switch.....
as a side note, honda normally uses yellow wire or yellow stripes to mean constant or ignition switched power....and black almost always is ground...

That sensor in your pic is the AC pressure sensor switch. It's there to protect the AC compressor from damage due to under/over pressurized system. If memory serves me correctly, when the pressure is below 28PSI and above 455PSI that sensor will turn off the AC system to prevent the compressor from damage.
hey, thanks for the fast reply.
i was wondering if i can just hook up a toggle switch to the condensor fan when i use the ac.. example... when driving and i want the a/c i will just flip a switch and the condensor fan will turn on and then off whne not in use..
or i can just hard wire it to the radiator fan, so it constantly will be on.. but turns off when the car turns off.
you guy think their will be any side-effects or damage if i just hardwire the a/c condensor fan? also if the describtion is correct about that ac pressure switch.. whould it be okay to leave it alone or should i try to connect it to that harness that was spliced into??
sorry for all the ?'s. i definetly got alot of help so far

As for jumping the fans, I'm not sure what the down-sides would be, but I would feel much more at ease if I hooked them up the way it was meant to be hooked up.
As for the pressure sensor switch, I would definately hook that back up the right way and make sure that the sensor switch is working properly. You maybe doing yourself a favor by not destroying your condensor one of these days ($$). Specially summer-time heat...

alright thanks for the help guys..
today i went ahead and reconnected the wires that were cut off to the appropiate clours in the harness.. i also replaced the fuse for the condensor fan and purchase a brand new relay for the a/c condenser fan...
now how do i check to see if everything is running right. i mean the fan doesnt turn on anymore when the car is not on and even if its on..
i tried a to blast my a/c at the maximum level and let the car idle there for like 10 minutes.. the radiator fan goes on.. but not the condensor fan. i check my tempature gauge in the car and i dont see the bar even going up.. its at the first bar (electric gauge 4th gen)
when does the condensor fan is supposed to be on?

the condenser fan is supposed to come on right when you turn on the ac
first check to see if your getting power and then go from there, if you are not getting power, check the condesner fan fuse, it might be blown
