my wires caught fire so i ran a wire from the air conditioning fan and compressor to a switch inside and then to the battery

the switch gets hella hot and it blew tonight, how can i wire a switch for the ac safely? maybe a heavy duty switch? maybe a fuse that would blow instead of the switch?

What originally caught on fire, just ac wires, engine fire, electrical? Is this the only thing that needs to be re-wired? What type and fuse rating is the switch that you are using?

 

yeah the ac wires caught fire, not sure of the fuse rating of the switch, do i need a relay or something? ill check the electricianm

 

You are probably using too small of a switch. You can use a relay, but I would recommend 1 for the fan and 1 for the compressor. You should also be running at least 12 gauge wiring for it.
