so it's the first day of 80 plus degrees out and i'm driving home in rush hour and i start to overheat. all of my fans are working, my water pump isn't leaking, not smoking, and have plenty of coolant. i'm stumped/pissed. any ideas?

with A/C on, hrrmmmmm
well, the A/c cause the engine to warm up more than normal, 80 degrees does this too, stop and go traffic in heat would do this as well.
all in all, bad idea to do these together.
rad cap or thermostat may be going bad

i just blew the heater hose because it got so hot but i know thats not the prob cause it's happened before. only it was a hot day and i was doing 80 and it started to heat up alot. turned the a/c off and the temp went down. i know it's not the best thing to run the a/c when in rush hour when it's hot out, but this **** shouldn't overheat if everythings working correctly. and it shouldn't overheat at all when the a/c is on and you're up to freeway speeds.

ok, so i just fixed the heater hose and filled it with coolant. same deal. i can beat it down without the a/c on and it's fine, as soon as i turn it on, it starts to heat up again. i visually inspected the fans and they both turn on. wtf. all i want is for my a/c to work on a hot day and not have my car ******* overheat.

i think that i fixed it. i put in a new thermostat today and then beat it for a few miles with the a/c cranked and after i had warmed up the car and the temp didn't rise above normal. it is about 10 degrees cooler then it was yesterday and i haven't sat in rush hour traffic yet so we'll see.

nope, didn't work. 85 and humid today ****** ***** overheating again. new thermostat and radiator cap, no help. not leaking fom the water pump but am thinking that it might be it. also. like 20 minutes after i shut it down, i went to open the radiator thinking that a bunch of hot *** water was gonna come flying out, and nothing. no pressure just 20 minutes after turning it off? hmmm. any thoughts?

When I took out my ac I notice that the radiator or whatever it's called on the ac side was completely clogged with dirt. I'm not even sure how I would get that out if I wanted to.
I better make sure I don't have the other thing on my radiator for the engine come to think of it.
I did manage to get the temperature up a bit hammering up a mountain in 90degrees yesterday. I think I need to do some rerouting on the cars intercooler and intake pipes.

Have you done a compression test or leakdown test? Could be a blown headgasket. Are you having to refill the radiator....I'm thinking it may the headgasket because you opened your rad cap and had no pressure.
i'm surprised nobody said anything about checking the cooling fan and a/c fan, you know the ones on the radiator and the condenser. Try checking to see if the fans are kicking on, one comes on when your car get to a certain temp., as long as your coolant temp. switch is plugged in, and the other fan(on the condenser) comes on when you turn the a/c on.

This may sound a bit weird but it worked for me, i was driving around my recently swapped civic to jersey and on the way there i noticed that when i would stop and then launch/drive off my heat would go up really up, so i automatically turned on my heat to help aid the prob.....
When i got to a rest stop we saw that the fan wasnt turning on so we were gonna try to trip the fan to make it turn on but we couldnt, so we unplugged the thermostat sensor plug and it was wet, we dried it off completely and its been 3 days wih no probs what so ever , maybe it can help.....
