Default 87 Civic Si needs a swap

what's the easyest swap for a 87 civic si. Old engine is worn out just wondering if there is a jdm engine that is a good replacement.

I would say find a D16a1 from an 88-89 Integra, they swap right into that chassis.

you want the 86-87 Integra D16A1 - it is the one that is compatible - 88-89 D16A1 has electronic advance distributor and is a lot more work to get wiring right - you will need engine, transmission, axles, knuckles/hubs, shift linkage and ECU from Integra - you could also use the JDM browntop ZC - it is 128hp where D16A1 is 112hp

i can't believe nobody has plugged redpepperracing.com yet. well, go there, go to the forum faq for engine swaps. they deal just with the 84-87's.

Dont waste your time with the D16a1. Dont get me wrong its a solid swap and all but if your going to get into a swap go B series. I had an '87 HB Si w/ B20vtec in it and damn that car kicked ***.

I was originally going to go with a D16a1 and happen to get a hook up for a complete B16 swap w/ mounts from a HASport '86 Civic. Im glad i did

I really don't want to change everything just looking to see if there was a jdm replacement engine that will drop in.

...out of curiousity...how much did you pay for your swap?? I really "dig" the AT body-style and would like to drop a B-series in it. More specifically, how much was all the swap related parts (minus the motor and trans). TIA.

...Sorry...don't mean to thread jack.
