Yesterday when I went to turn on my car to go to work it started to sputter and want to die out "very low rpm". I got some new plugs and rotor today since iam going turbo like very sone I bought some zfr7f-11 for the car. When I went to take off the plugs there were solid black???? This has never happened to me before. All 4 where black. Also smoke came out of my waste gate it never did that before. I haven’t connected the charge pipe yet but I don’t drive the car very far and stall under 2000 rpm with an open waste gate. What do you guys think it is I don’t want to boost on an injured engine till it’s fixed. I got an h22a obd1 stock everything but msd and the turbo of course but it’s not connected yet. PLZ help me I dont wana wait no more for boost!
wait...im confused. Are you turbo yet? You kept saying going to be, then you say smoke out your wastegate, then you dont want to wait for boost anymore? Its not connected yet?
please unconfuse me.

everything thats for the turbo is mounted on but the charge pipe is disconected so no boost yet. i checked the fuel pressure now and its at 36 idel i also resested the ecu and still nothing. what bugs me most is it did it all of a sudden.

ok hold up I found the wire that goes to the oil pressure sending unit on the ground not connected to the sensor could that be it? It started to pour down here and I can’t go and connect it right quick. As sone as it stops iam going out. I also did the seafoam thing on the brake booster line, dam world war 3 up in my house when I turned on my car. My neighbors were looking at me like hah I knew he was going to blow his engine someday with all that **** his does to it!!!
I'll ignore the whole issue of the additional back pressure created by the turbo that's installed but not boosting... I've seen people say this is bad, but I'm not really qualified to comment. What I do know is that if your oil pressure sender is not connected properly, it will put your car into limp mode (Noticed a 52k rev limit lately?)... This will make it run excessively rich, this will foul your plugs, making them black...
Other things that could make the plugs black would be oil contamination in the cylinders typical caused by blow rings... I would not expect that until after your boosting though
As for black smoke coming out of the wastegate... The aforementioned rich condition could be blackening your exhaust up, extra unburnt hydrocarbons mean black smoke... But again this could also be burning oil...
Best thing you could probably do is, A) don't be a puss, reconnect that sender. B) get a compression or better a leak-down test (Both less then $100) and make sure you don't have a blow ring... And watch your oil level like a hawk! Carry extra oil with you if you must drive before it's all sorted out... And check the level as often as you can... After you drive it's not going to be between the marks, but you should try and note if it's going down at all.
Anyway, I'm a real novice at this, so take all my advice worth a grain of salt, but it sounds like you have a problem that you should take care of sooner rather then later... So I figured I would throw in what I know.

i love all these people who reply thinking what they say is correct...
don't be mis-informed, the oil pressure sender does not have anything to do with the way your car runs, if you would like an ECU pin out, and wire diagram, for the oil sender, i'll be happy to post it up for proof.
all the oil sender does, it make the oil light come on in your car if it senses no pressure..
It WILL NOT put your car in "limp" mode, it WILL NOT make it run rich..
spark plugs normally look black, on h22s, because they run rich as hell stock.. smoke coming from the wastegate is prefectly normal..
running without the turbo connected, is just pretty dumb, connect that bitch and start boosting.. why go through all the trouble? just to be worried about your motor being hurt.. shouldn't u have checked for that before you went through with putting everything on?

No it barely whistles i live 2 miles from work of with I go thru residential roads so no more than 20mph. I don’t pass 2000 rpm when going to work and the waste gate is open "sounds like those srt4's" I connected the sender back but it still idles kind of funny.

That’s not true my plugs that i had before where perfect tan color with no black. there were ngk iridium’s. And now those plugs got black. A friend said it my be running rich because of the pipes the air has to go thru to reach the TB are very long. To make you guys clear here I have a 92 h22a prelude, it has the turbo mani with a t2/t4 turbo, downpipe, oil lines, and charge pipes with a bov and intercooler connected but the coupling that connects the turbo to the charge pipe is not here yet!! I ordered it on eBay and it has not arrived yet. ive driven the car like that for about a week "only 4 miles a day. The car runs a little better when i disconnect the secondary from the vacuum line and leave the vac line open to the air. Iam running out of options here.

ok well i was assuming you had, had these plugs in for awhile, i'd say if they had at least 10k, miles on them, the plugs will be a blackish color when u pull them, considerably more black then say an accord, or civic.
in any case, your problem lies with your motor having to "pull" the air through all those pipes, and your intercooler before getting to the motor.
i would have told u this right away, but it just became clear when you stated everything including charge pipes were connected.
if you wanna check and make sure, put the stock intake back on, and it should start running better, it will have alittle more back pressure then it should, even with the wastegate open..
but the only way to satify your worries is to get a leak down test.. as long as your rings are ok, and the timing belt is good, you shouldn't have anything to worry about when boosting your motor.

Actually I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago with the oil pressure sender being disconnected and it did put my car into limp mode... I guess something else could have been causing it... I had an exhaust restriction that popped up a week later causing the same thing... I'm guessing that was due to bad readings from one of the o2 sensors... So like I said could have been that both times...
But it seems a little coincidental that I reconnect the oil pressure sender and the 52k revlimit is gone on the next drive... But hey, you seem to know best.
