If I put the car in neutral and rev the engine a bit, there is a low pitched rattle sound coming from the gearstick/gearbox area. If I push down the clutch, the sound goes away instantly. Is this the release bearing going bad??

I just had the clutch changed about 4000km ago with an Action 1KS, and the release bearing (supplied by Action) was changed along with it.

 

Man you've had a hell of a time lately with your car haven't you. I know with my short shifter in my gs-r it rattled all the time. My guess would be to check the linkage underneath the car and to make sure the bushings are there and intact.

Yeah... drivetrain + ITRs = bad

I checked the shift linkage during the clutch install and it was fine. I actually think it's my input shaft bearing that's going bad now:
