hard to install speed sensor?
What makes you think your speed sensor is bad? As long as you can unbolt and unplug a connection you are fine. Follow the wires that connect to a sensor on your transmission. The will be in the area behind and below your starter. Use a 10mm socket to unbolt it, pull it up, unplug it - then plug your new speed sensor. Once the new sensor has been connected - bolt into the area you just removed it from..
Only word of advice is to be careful not to damage the gear on the end of the new unit you're putting in and to be careful not to snap the mounting tab off of the new unit by overtightening the bolt.
If you stand on the passenger side fender of the car and look into the engine bay it's on the back of the transmission sticking straight up with an electrical connection going to it. You seriously can't miss it.
B18C5-EH2 did a writeup on how to change transmission fluid through it, so if you need pictures, search for him as the creator, in EG+ in the archives.
Usually a dying speed sensor goes out intermittently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, and other times the speedo just jumps around like crazy. If your speedometer just stopped working, I honestly don't think that the speed sensor is your problem.
If you want to go ahead and get a mnaula now visit http://www.helminc.com. They sell the BEST service manuals for our cars, and at $62 dollars, you'll save yourself a ton of cash in labor.

I cracked mine. It's a LONG freaking bolt and hard to tell how tight you have it.

Its just dumb because it takes 30seconds to check the tq spec and do it right.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I've done the same thing. Threadjack in progress....
Have any of you gotten messed up readings on your torque wrenches from using a bunch of extensions? My tq wrench is WAY too big to fit down by the speed sensor, so I had to use about 2 and a half feet worth of extensions and STILL managed to damage it.

I have a 2000 civic ex. One day the check engine light came on and I didn't what the problem was. THe only thing I did before that was change the spark plugs about 5k miles earlier. I checked the wires and one of them was not pushed all the way down and that fixed the problem for about 2 weeks the the light came back on. The I installed new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and it fixed the problem again but for only 2 more weeks. I've taken it to Auto Zone each time and the same code keeps coming up P1336. So from searching this site it seems that other people changed that sensor and it fixed the problem. All it seems to do is idle a little higher than normal and not run as smooth as it did before. Other than that all seems ok. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Ok Thanks. Yea I'm in Raleigh. I'm off work tommorrow. I could meet you somewhere. Just let me know. If not tommorrow then maybe sometime this weekend. I appreciate it.
