Default How safe is it, and how many of you do it.

Running your turbo w/o a Air Filter, im having a hard time getting the piping to fit around my Tranny. I have the ZC with the DX Tranny, what can I do, or just run it like that.

just on a matter of principle its a really bad idea. if its a drag car that you only run at the track, by all means run without a filter, since you dont mind rebuilding your stuff regularly. but if its a daily driver, i dont know why you'd ever run without a filter.

I don't think it's really "safe" to ever run with no filter, never know what you can suck up in there, especially under boost

I asked a long-time honda mechanic about this when we were having trouble getting the max-rev setup to fit in a '00 Si. He said we would be rebuilding the motor ever 5-10K miles without a filter.

rig up an intake or get one done at a shop.

Home Depot - 3" flexible vent hose. $8.00. I've actually got shelves and shelves of reinforced coated nylon flex hose at work here that works great.

Thanks for the info, now I can sleep in peace. Now another question its not going to be to hot that its going to melt it is it, or just stock up on them for a just in case thing.

Alot of guys also use the flexible automotive enhaust pipe. I had to move my battery to the hatch in order to fit a filter under the hood. I got super lucky with my filter, the bottom half of my aem cold air intake actually was the perfect shape. The filter sits exactly where the battery used to be.
