Best $300 Setup?
Hey guys whats up,
I was looking around and I'm ready for some bass
I own n 87 integra ls, so its a hatchback,
But I'm about to buy a DA
Anyway,
I'mm looking for some bass to fill the air, I do want it loud but I dont want to be able to rattle everyones elses windows
I want it to be loud in my car so I just want something that sounds good,
I am not interested in the whole rattling everyones windows I can
My budget is $300
I was thinking two 12" subs and an amp
But I think a good 12" sub and a good Amp is what I need
I have been on ebay but I just dont know whats good and whats not
Here is my current setup
Front:
Kenwood 3-way 220W 6.5

in the rear, two (2) Kenwood 3-way 200W speakers

And I already have an Equalizer

I was just wondering, Is "Duel" an ok sub?
How is Audiobahn?
Legacy?
Planet Audio?
My friend ust got two 15" subs and a amp, with box wires etc.. for $500
and its insane it rattle everything everywhere, I dont need that but I think he mght have gotten a deal
Thanks, Later

dude. I have a basically brand new 12" image dynamics IDQv1 dual 4ohm. They are well known in the IASCA organization and is regarded as one of the best subwoofer to use for Sound quality. In a hatchback like yours, I'm sure they will get loud enough (hatch are easy to get loud).
They will only take about 1.2 cubic feet sealed or about 2.0 cubic feet ported.
Asking for $95 shipped (sub cost $170+ shipping brand new). This will leave you about $205 for wiring plus amp. I say that's definitely do-able

look on ebay for some stuff....
quantum makes nice subs, and theyre pretty cheap, because theyre not very well known
also, audiobahn dubs sound pretty sweet.
Ebay is the cheapest place for stuff.. you can get a killer system for about that price. for wires you can just go almost anywhere and get what you need for a fraction of the cost.

If your on a budget I would look at this amp and 2 of these subs.

Subs

The amp may not be the best but for the money they make very good amps. I like them a lot. I would then custom build a box and don't know what I would reccomend doing about wiring as it will put you slightly over $300 although you may be able to find this amp and sub cheaper elsewhere I don't know.

I have that same amp and sub and a smaller 400 watt Profile amp also I have only had the 1000watt one for a few weeks now though I have had the 400 watt one for about 4 months. For the money they are very good they put out nice clean bass when demoing them they sounded better than a lot of the amps I listened to especailly in that price range. I have had a problem with the lights dimming slightly but not a big deal and doesn't do it unless I turn it up. It hit's very hard and sounds good all around. I did have one of the subs start making a slight pop noise everyonce and a while yesterday when I turned it way up but it was after changing amps out and messing with it and I had it very loud but that is the first time I have heard that but I think it was something I did they seem to be very good subs also. The only complaint I really have is they didn't come with the round cardboard to use when cutting holes in the box to make it fit like my Kicker Comp VR's did but it wasn't a big deal it just made me have to cut out a hole for a 12" sub by hand. I got the stuff at a discount through a family member that works at a local car audio store so I don't know who has it cheapest normally I just knew Crutchfield has it all. I used a Street Wires 4 guage wiring kit for my wiring but they arnt cheap either so not sure if it will go in your budget. I have ordered from Cardomain once before but only bulbs but I knew they were a store also lol.

hometheaterman: Thanks for the info, you have helped me alot,
GSteg: Do you have a link to information on this sub you speak of?
As I said, two subs and an amp or one really good sub and an amp
Thanks, Later

Here is an amp that would be sufficient:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLCS2001
an honest 338w at 2ohm
My sub (idq v1) is basically the same as the v2, except the v1 has the black logo while having virtually no change in performance.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/IDSIDQ12D4V2
I really wish rcurley was around here. He definitely knows what potential this subwoofer has (for pure sound quality).
How loud do you listen to your system anyways?
95 for sub plus 149. thats 244 shipped.
try to get cardomain/sounddomain to pricematch this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=WDVW
and they will probably pricematch it (they have done pricematching for me that was way beyond what other stores will do).
Thats a potential cost of $230 shipped for the setup.
of course this will run you as a sound quality system that can get damn loud in a hatchback (ported if you want maximum output, sealed if you want smoother response, but most are able to get the same smoothness out of a ported box)

You can never teach someone that is into cheap audio that there is a difference. What's more inportant to them is the numbers printed on the outside. I would take a 100 watt Autotek mean machine (which you can pick up used for $100) over that 1000W piece of poo any day. The speaker gsteg is selling is a good deal if in good condition.
The things I have read on Profile amps is that they put out the power they are rated at or near it. Unlike the Legacy and many of the other cheap brands including Audiobahn that put out nothing near what they say. I'm not saying this is the best setup but is about as good as your going to get for $300 which is a resonable budget. For the type of music I listen to I prefer 2 subs versus one. I have just 1 in my truck and and is ok but I still would rather have 2. It greatly depends on preference as some systems some guys like I think sound like crap like Audiobahn and Sony and similar stuff yet the same people may dislike the setups I think sound great.

good? basically 9.5/10 here!
but of course, not everyone is into Sound quality

Hmmm That would leave me 100 for the amp, and I dont think a $100 amp would do much on that thing
If I'm wrong please inform me on an amp for about $100 that would be nice for that,
2,000 W rms Crazy
EDIT: I dont think I'm getting a sound system, I might need to put it into m daily driver sry guys
Thanks for all the help,

An infinity 12.d and a cheap infinity amp will come in around $250. But honestly, save up a little longer so you can really be proud of what you own. Because with this kinds of setups, you'll eventually notice and get tired of your system bottoming out.
