Tech Question
My Idle Control Valve has gone bad, code came up and CEL is on. Alot of people are telling me to get a new one or try and clean it out..how do i go about doing this??
Also...my friend messed up the two front valve cover screws(one treading is messed up on head and screw, 2nd bolt doesn't catch on head)....i am getting a serious oil leak at the front of the engine, oil is leaking onto the exhaust manifold and smokes...should i try using a silicon gasket maker and seal it? What do u think i should do?
Thanks Alot

well, as for the IACV, on an f22 it's located on the back of the intake manifold, towards the firewall...on an h22 it's located on the front of the intake manifold...basically, unbolt it from the intake manifold (3 or 4 bolts i believe) and there is a screen...clean the screen...if your CEL is still on, you need to get a new IACV...
tell your friend he's responsible for fixing the problem...sounds like he's not going to fix it however so the solution would be to remove both studs that are fucked up...you will need to remove your valve cover to do this, and take it from there...you may need to rethread the studs, in order to get the two bolts on, depending on how bad they are messed up...good luck

You can also replace the studs with studs from lowes and you will be fine as long as you get the same pitch and thread as the ones you already have and get a nut to serve as the lock nut on the head. It is actually very simple to do if you look at the stud with the valve cover off.
on the issue with valve cover bolts,, remose these bolts and put longer ones in not way too long a bit longer enough to catch the threads on head i have done it it works, you need to get those washer off the bolts i just grind the bolts down so i can slide washer off and reuse same washer,,,, or get new ones
