Default How to tell what year (or obd version) a motor is?

I have a JDM H22A......Block code is H22A

My ECU is obd2 however i just learned that may not be the same as the motor.

How do I check what year my motor is? Or what OBD version it originaly was.

Check the head, just above the exhaust manifold. There whould be a place where it reads what year.

I thought that all JDM H22A's and all JDM cars for that matter were OBD 1.

Not so... I'm very much OBD-I and have a stock external coil.

I thought all the JDM H22's were internal coil. My JDM H (94) is internal coil and the company i got it from sent me an obd2 ecu. The ecu they send has nothing to do with motor year, they usually ship from diff places. You need to read the casting code below the engine code. Search H-T for the thread on how to read the code.
