sf is a good kit, but the turnaround time for shipment is FOREVER and usually comes lacking parts so i would personally go with the dezod.com kit. if you have an ex w/ 5 spd i'd estimate about 180 whp at around 8 psi.

Not trying to be a jerk or go off topic, but thats not that much of a gain, doesnt make it seem worth it, well at least in numbers.

i think for the stock engine that's pretty awesome numbers. Considering that a grand spent on cai, headers, and exhaust will yield a phat 15 to 20 hp....and that's mayyyyybe.

I changed my mind, it seems like alot of money. I would rather spend an extra grand and just get a swap.

good lcuk finding a legitament swap for under 6k. after everything u need for a k20 swap comes to around 7k-8k. thats for 200hp. i rather spend 3k and get that 180+ hp and the pssshhhh sound. but depends what u want. u want 250hp or 500hp.

well if turbo will give the civic 180 to the wheels, a K20 will give him around 186 to the wheels (if I remember correctly) ... I would swap personally. I would think the civic is lighter than the DC5, so he could fly with a K20 in the civic. I could be wrong about the weight....just to tired to search

Does anybody remember the stock whp numbers for the K20, I think it is 186 though. It is a couple grand more but hey....

turbo kit.

if you decide to sell, you can remove the kit and sell it separately from the car.

it isn't easy to find someone who wants a car like that modified to ****.

swap in the engine and try to sell the car, you're going to be sitting on it for a while and get back maybe 25-30% what you put into it.

if it's a daily driver, and your only car, if you get too modified, better save a chunk of money aside for repairs.

motor is quite a bit more expensive, but with some BPU you could easily break 200whp, unlike the turbo because once you hit 10psi your headgasket is gone. theres is an article in the newest Sport Compact Car about a 02 civic coupe w/ a k20-r swap and the editors said it was VERY quick, and if your going to spend the money on a k swap, there is NO reason not to get the best one available, 220hp and a 6spd gearbox. imo, being the owner of a 2004 civic ex myself, i would go the swap route.

swaps might be less maintenance in the long run, imo. but if you just want a little oomph when you hit full boost and the sound of the bov, i'd go with dezods kit.

don't forget the k20a tranny comes with an lsd....(right?)

when i first got my civic till about feb. i wanted a swap. but its just expensive for all the parts. and now i decided to go the turbo route cause all i want is around 200hp. only thing that bugs me is i want LSD, wonder if i can get a different tranny to swap in with minor modifications and add or have lsd. if anyone knows how that would be great.

what about just building a custom turbo kit yourself?! mani= $200, turbo= $3-400, BOV=$100, add. fuel controller=$ 500 w/ injectors, wastegate=$100-1000, exhaust=$200-1000........its all up to you, then theres internals that can be done!! like sleeves, pistons, heads ported/polished, valve job.........etc.etc.etc.

I'm half way there already!!!
