it is the same motor used in the acura cars. You might try looking for performance parts for the acura version of the accord.

that V6 is a C27...the same family of motors as teh NSX's V6....though it shares basically no parts. That engine is heavy, and barely makes more power than the 4cyl vtec models, and are pretty rare, so theres little support for them, because theres little demand.

its just not a good platform for modicitaion, especially with an incredibly weak auto transmission

Source a 5spd tranny from the 1st gen Legends and swap that in. Nitrous is also always a resolution to power.

the v6 trans in the 5th gen car is not weak. The one in the 6th gen accords are. The verdict is still out on the 7th gen cars

I could see how frustrated you would be also. Someone I know has a 96 v6 accord also. Basically the only mods you could do are the universal ones plus your car is so rare that barely anyone does aftermarket for them.

since the 2.7L is the SAME SIZE as any of the newer accord engines, I would swap one of those into the car. Problem solved. You may be able to get the 3.2L in there and if you are lucky enough to come across a 3.5L it may fit with a little work.

The 2.7L is a cast iron block and aluminum head and all of the newer V6 are Aluminum block and head so it would make the car slightly lighter in the process.

im sorry, but STOCK auto trannies made for cars putting down less than 150 to the wheels are never very good at holding higher torque loads...it gnerally doesnt matter what car it is, and honda is certainly not one of the best...being that the 7th gen has now been out for 2+ years, and theres been no issues, i doubt there nearly as bad as the 6th gen AV6.....that was a fluke in the design that caused second gear (i think) to dry up and not get oiled, thus burning it out.....remember that auto trannies are very complex, and have alot of moving parts....which means theres more chance for something to go wrong

you can probably squeeze a whole mess of honda V6's between the frame rails...but unless you have access to custon fabrication, most, if not all, are out of range...

what crap are you talkin' man.... Compared to ALL american car makers, their auto transmissions are by far superior with a far lower failure rate. Accords are not made to be racing machines and once you start modding the engine, you are going to have to mod the trans to take the additional load. The same is true for any manufacturer. Same is true for manuals as well. With Honda's auto trannies usually lasting the life of the car, I would say that they are indeed well built units. The exception would be the 6th gen accords where the tranny has a failure rate similar to that of American cars.

2 years is not enough time to get any sort of reliable long term data for the longevity of a car. Come back in another 3-4 years for an 03 model and then we will talk. Oops spoke too soon as there is a recall for about 500K accords and Acuras with the new 5 speed auto trans due to insufficient lubrication of the secondary shaft.

http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/040702-2.htm

The 6th gen cars suffered a different trans failure causing something to fail in the differental and the gears would get messed up.

If I am not mistaken, the J30 is a direct drop in for that car and you have to add the ecu.

FIRST OF ALL, speaking from a man who had a 1988 Acura LEgend 5 speed Coupe....you CANNOT DO JACK **** TO THIS ENGINE. nos?? it would blow up after 5 runs, intake, exhaust, valve job? i finally gave up on it. And the 5 Speeed tranny is extremely weak, i've blown 3 of them. Once shatterd the case bec i shifted too hard...I learned the hard way that the 1st gen legend was not and cannot be made into a racer. you could always custom build a turbo, but come on, that would be retarded. Leave her alone before the valves start clacking
