Default proper position for intake

i got a k&n intake from ebay about 3 months ago. the pipe barely fit and the filter barely even got in there. it is touching the coolant resvoir. should it be that close? basically bottom line....should i buy a new intake that fits better...

99 LS. its probably ok but it just seems like the filter shouldn't be so close to the anit-freeze resevoir. i would post a pic but i dont know how to.

no its not bolted down...but its so tight in there it has virtually no movement anyway. it didnt come with anything to stabilize it really.

THere's a spot to throw in a bolt from where you took your stock airbox out. See if you can drop a 1" bolt in there and then use a zip tie to secure the CAI to the bolt so it doesn't hit your coolant or AC lines.
