I'm taking an auto engine class at the local community college... I'm wondering, if I were able to just buy sleeves, I *might* be able to do it at the auto shop there... if that's the case, can I just buy sleeves to install there?

Pros/cons?

 

anyone knowledgable about hondas and sleeving technology can do it. its just the removal of the old ones and slap in the new ones. I like the way GE does there sleeving.. all on CNC within .0002 of perfection.

 

You can buy darton sleeve kits from race engineering. I would imagine if you had access to the right equipment that you could do it yourself. I build my own engines...but i leave boring/honing/sleeving/etc up to a machine shop myself.

yea, leave it to a machine shop. They have the means and do it for a living. The tolerances they clear are smaller than the mind can imagine. My mind anyways, just make sure they have a good reputation and you'll get what you pay for.

 

How much would the sleeves be? Would I still need to deck the block? I'm not too hot on using blockguards...

 

the GE groubuy was offerein a motor sleeved for 585. I think the regular price is somewhere in the neighboorhood of 790 or so.

i'm coming down to GE tomorrow (wednesday) . if you had the block ready & you had the cash on hand, you could get it for the $585 price.
