Default A different type of intake question

I was thinking about an intake system the other day and came up with an idea. Put a reducer coupling at the throttle body that opens up say 2"-2.5" so instead of having matching tubing size to the TB you make the tubing larger diameter collecting air but stock size entering the TB. My thinking is that you get a higher volume of air flow but the velocity is kept up at the TB...does anyone understand what Im trying to convey? would something like this work the way im trying to think it will work. i know it sounds a bit confusing but it makes a lot more sense in my head lol

Isn't that the basic idea behind the J's style or ARC Power chamber type intake?
