bigger diameter = bigger power......???
when it comes to cai, the bigger the diameter(ie. itr=3inches), the more power you gain over smaller diameter(ie. prelude or 99-00 si). everyone on ht says to go with the itr intake for an h22 civic cuz the diameter is bigger and you'll get more hp. correct me if im wrong but i always thought that velocity was greater than mass, meaning it doesnt matter how much air you are sucking in, what matters is how fast the air is traveling in. if you have a 3inch diameter intake yes it will suck more air but at the same tame it wont travel as fast. if you have a smaller diamater intake it wont suck in as much air but the air will be traveling faster due to the smaller diameter. what do you guys think??

size does matter... to a point. there is such thing as too big. From my experience, your better off trying to match the intake diameter to the throttle body diameter. If the intake is too much bigger, it'll create turbulence around the throttle body and slow dont the air speed.

I'm running a 92-96 lude aem short ram. it was too big to fit in my eg, but a hack saw solved that. its the exact same size as my stock tb. $90 shipped on ebay.

I'm running a 97-01 Prelude AEM CAI , but I cut it down to fit in my EG. It's more like a short air now,

based on your argument, you should go even smaller then. like a 1.5 inch intake - air will flow hella fast.
doubt you'll notice a difference between a prelude cai and itr cai - i'll pull on your slow POS regardless.

he was showing him that smaller means faster
think of an intake like an exhaust.. an exhaust has backpressure.. u need a certain amount of back pressure for horse power... if u throw a 3" header back exhaust on a 130hp engine its more then likely gonna loose some power somewhere in the grid and be more of a loss then a gain.. think of it the same way as an intake... if the stock intake is infact restrictive, making a bigger one will help.. but theres a fine line where youll gain some and lose some...
whoever said keep it the same size as the TB said it best...
however, u see those big *** bubble intakes, which make sense.. as long as the openings for the intake are the same size as the TB youll be fine... u could have it a foot wide inside itll just be the same as long as the ends are same size as TB

it makes some difference, but i wouldn't say its a big difference. more of a differece as to where you'll make your power.

First, the guy obviously has no sense of humor.
Second, I walked on you so my time must be too quick for you to handle.
