Default HELP! 2000 Hatch, D16z6 Swap

First off, I have searched, and all I can find is For Sale threads, no info about this swap, I have talked to multiple people, and 2 mechanics, I have had multiple responses with people that had told me that I could use either wire harness, but no specific info that has helped me finish this swap.. I have a 2000 Hatch, and I swapped out my blown Obd2 00 d16y7 to a Obd1 94 d16z6 (because it was free).. I'm having problems with the wiring... the alternator on the z6 was cracked in half and the pully was broken, so I replaced it with my y7, the dizzy was smashed and also broken, I was told that I can also replace that, so I did. The mechanic helping me with the wiring now had told me, if I use my 00 wire harness, I have to buy a vtec controller, I'm not trying to spend any money on this swap, so I want to work with what I have, he also said I have to swap my stock intake manifold "y7", for some reason, and I'm assuming I would have to buy a conversion harness to use the P28 ECU, I'm not sure. I was also told I can use the 94 z6, I wouldnt have to swap the intake mani, or buy a vtec controller, but the plug for the dash instruments wont plug into my 00 stock plug, dizzy or the alternator.. I'm assuming use the 94 harness, and convert the plugs for the dizzy, alternator, and dash instruments to 00 dx plugs, but I have no experiance with wiring, or this type of setup, and I'm not sure if everything would run properly, I need some experianced info, any input is greatly appreciated

Im pretty sure you dont have to swap the intake mani, just because alot of Y7 owners swap the Z6 intake mani on there cars.

You'd need a OBD2 to OBD1 ecu conversion harness thing, for your 00 ecu to work I believe, but if you run your 00 ecu I dont believe that you'll have vtec.

Not 100% on any of it, but just tryin to help. Good luck with the swap

Yes, you'll need the OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness to run the P28. You'll also need to convert some of the plugs on the engine - the distributer, for example. You can only run the Z6 or Z1 distributer on the P08 head. The Y7 dizzy will not bolt up properly or allow you to get the proper timing adjustments.

Here's a guy that's a fellow sohchonda member/moderator who has an excellent write-up that should answer most if not all of your questions. Great guy too - hit him up if you have more questions.
