Default Help, removing d16z6 head

I am in the middle of removing the head in favor for a ported and polished one, with a zex 59300 cam. I cant seem to be able to get a wrench on the bolt near the crank that holds the cover. Does anyone have any tips from doing this in the past?

thnx ahead of time

Yep, I used a 1/4" drive socket Takes time but you'll get it. It helps to move the ac tensioner out if you have it as well

Have you taken off the crakshaft pulley, don't know what engine you have but on by b series you have to take off the pulley to take off the lower cover if I remember correctly.

u dont need to take that cover off to remove the head

removing the head just includes removing any vac lines/etc from the head, the bolts inside the head, and slipping the timing belt aside

just set your head to TDC, mark the belt, slip it off and hold it up with some wire... set the new head to TDC and mark it the same place u marked the other one.. and put it on slide the belt on

when we replaced my HG in my z6, we did not need to remove the lower timing belt cover

Well i deicided to just change the timing belt later, but i can't seem to loosen the adjusting bolt which is in a rough spot. I'm using a ratchet and a pipe on the handle as getho breaker bar/extension. The socket just keeps slipping off and i'm scared im just stripping the bolt which would be muy no bueno. An air ratchet can get on in and stay on it but doesnt have torque to loosen it. Does the adjusting bolt really have to come lose to just switch the head, I mean it does make sense that it would have to but if it didnt that would be so much easier. Now second day on the project and i'm running out of knuckles to bust up.
