A/C Compressor Pulley replacement Question
I have reason to believe the a/c compressor pulley on my '97 prelude has gone bad. My question is... can the new pulley just be pushed on to the compressor by hand or does it have to be pressed on with a hydraulic press. I looked through the Helm's and I see that there is a snap ring holding the pulley on, but it also looks like you need a press the pulley onto the field coild before the snap-ring goes on. I've got a new pulley and clutch and would like to do the swap but I don't know if I'm going to have to take it to someone to have them press the new pulley on.
Thanks.
Thanks.
yes you will have to have a puller to pull the coil out. Sometime the clutch will just come off with the nut remover fist, other time it might need a little pressure. for the coil you will need a puller, but not true. Just remember how the coil fit so you can plug the black wire in the same place. as for the coil, just try to pry on the pully without breaking the compressor. if you are not sure , take it to some shop they might charge you $40 to put them on.
