Hey everyone, im new to the honda family...just bought a 97 Civic EX last week. Already put on a short throw, type r ****, new tails (didnt like the amber), and took off my Resignator for ***** and giggles. I was wondering, how much of a pain in the *** is it to swap in an H22? Any suggestions on a good motor for cheap?

 

Read the stickied post at the top of the forum here for advise on engine swaps. Also, it's "resonator" .

The H22 is not simple and involves a lot of work aside from just plugging **** in. I would suggest a B18B for economy and then slap a turbocharger on it down the road.

 

an h22 is a great motor but is a really bitch 2 put on lol bro is all in how much money u got 2 spend

 

personally it's not worth the time to me. Not only is it not plug in play or bolt in. It's not difficult if you've done swaps before, but it is time consuming more so than a b-swap. gotta convert to a cable shifter, gotta get custom mounts, axles and so on. The money you'd spend on b-swap plus mods would put you up there in power. I know, I know if you put in the same mods in the H22 it would make power, but it would require more money. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

 

Thanks guys i really appreciate the advice...what car has a b18 in it? the gsr or type r or what? My buddy recently wrecked his GSR what type of engine is that? Should I swap that in?

 

b18b is from an LS integra.
A gsr would be b18c1, and yes you should.

Or if you have alot of money, get the hype R
edit- Which would be a b18c or b18c5 depending.
Just search it and you'll see what I mean.

b18c is actually a JDM motor.

Your buddy probably had a b18c1, and yes swap that in. You'll get a good amount of power out of it!

 

Yea gsr motors in the right hands can be leathal.
