just fired up the crvtec........big problem, need ideas
ok i bought the crvtec from a local guy, hes very smart and respected as far as honda's, some of you make know him on this board as Reno Racing......anyways i got it all put in a fired it up, it started perfectly and i only let it run for 20-30sec. I get out and my buddy was telling me its leaking oil on the tranny from the dizzy area.......we look under the car and it looks like %80+ of my oil came out of the motor in that time!........checked all the sensors and dizzy but they were all fine, the leak looks like its coming from the headgasket/head.......now the only thing i can think of is maybe he told me he plugged the head but didnt??? what else could make it loose that much oil that quick? any suggestions would be great, other than that the motor seems to be perfect
well tbone suggested it be the headgasket upside down, and my only other thought was maybe it wasnt plugged.....so i took a pic for him and he said it looked upside down....

so i pulled the head a couple mn's ago and was amazed, the hg was on correctly, and the head was plugged.....i thought something must be really fucked....but to my amazment, its the smallest shitty thing ever, but an easy fix lol.....

Either he didnt plug it or its the wrong head gasket.. Or he put the head gasket on upside down which I see happen alot..
Could it be that the head isnt sitting flush. Start with the easy stuff and check if everything was torqued to spec and if the dowels were properly set. If everything else checks out fine, must be a head/block imperfection.
well my thoughts were it being:
not plugged
wrong gasket
other than that i just dont think there could be any problems that would make oil come out that fast

i hear ya... my setup would benefit greatly from some headwork and tuning, just don't have the money right now and i'm debating on selling it for a k-swap.

Glad it wasnt something worse.
On the vtec gaskets theres a serial # tab that hangs out on the front corner there, thats why it appeared to be upsidedown to me in the pic..I guess ls gaskets dont have it though..
