Default Dynoed: D16Y8, Greddy 15G kit, blue box @ 8 psi...

Here's the lowdown, nothing crazy here.

-stock D16Y8 bottom end, 135k miles
-rebuilt OEM head (14k miles)
-ARP headstuds, OEM HG, copper spray
-Greddy 15G 92-95 kit, modded to fit my 97 EX
-DRAG III intercooler, 2" IC piping (cept for charge pipe)
-Greddy Type-S BOV
-greddy blue box fuel management - ol' skool y0!
-stock pump and injectors
-timing retarded 2 degrees
-NGK BKR7E plugs, gapped at .030"
-ACT HDSS clutch kit w/stock flywheel
-8 lbs. of boost

Look at that A/F...No wonder it feels like a dog in the midrange

Time for Uberdata, DSM 450's and 11 psi!

Thoughts?

183whp at 8 psi is about exactly what I expected with the blue box.

EDIT: Also, I want everyone to look at the difference between the two runs. The lower run is a 4th gear pull, while the 183whp run is a 3rd gear pull.

I did this on purpose to test the theory that you make more power in 3rd gear pulls than in 4th gear pulls.

Why is this? Does it have to do with the gear ratios? TIA

Those are pretty good numbers for stock injectors running off the blue box...

You will definately pick up some more power when you switch over to Uberdata with the 450s. Yeah, just looking at that AF ratio makes me want to start smoothing it out. You will have fun with Uberdata and make a lot more power, plus you will be able to get a smooth flat AF ratio.

Are you going to dyno it again after you switch to Uber? It will be interesting to see how much power you will gain.

Oh for sure, my fellow ninja. I dynoed today solely for the purpose of doing a before-and-after dyno plot test of the blue box vs. Uberdata.

Would this be because of 4th gear building boost slower?

I got 198hp@10psi w/eclipse T25 with blue box, but my a/f curve didnt look like yours it was a smooth curve at 11s.
Ill be switching to uberdata probably next week w 440s. gonna tune it for 12psi w/3bar and Ostrich.

hey boostincoupe, when u said "Greddy 15G 92-95 kit, modded to fit my 97 EX"
i did the exact thing on my 99 DX, i was wondering did u get to hook up the coolant lines to the turbo? and i also noticed that u are using GReddy's Type S BOV, do u still have the DSM BOV on the car while using that type s or did u get it plugged?? btw good numbers w/ the blue box, i only came up w/ 140whp on 2nd gear pull since my dx tranny's gears are so looong.

The 15G is NOT a water-cooled turbo

running 4th egar is more accurate cause it's pretty close to a 1:1 ratio

the a/f's to mee look like they get kinda lean, like 13's thats probably why it made so much power, i'd definatley get uberdata and the 450's and tune it before you mess somethin up.

i think it would be pretty to to get your hands on a e manage and see what the dif is between blue box and e manage

screw emanage. Running uberdata will be better and cheaper.

Waiting to pick up a P28 that's ready to accept a chip for $100

Hey, PM me if possible. I have some Uberdata questions and I figure since we have the same car, you can help me out on any conversion issues I might have.

that was exactly what shane at elite told me. he also said that 3rd gear pulls will give out a higher tq reading.

that's because you get torque multiplication through the transmission gearing in any gear except 4th (or whatever gear is your 1:1 gear)...lol, you ought to do a pull in overdrive haha.

but yeah, you should always do pulls in whatever gear your 1:1 gear is. automatic cars have to have the transmission locked in that gear to do a pull so it doesnt try to kick down into a lower gear during the run

you gotta admit though, for running as much stock stuff as you've got along with the blue box, that's some nice power though you can most definitely see where it goes pig rich before vtec hits and eats up all the extra gas heh.

might be time to try an e-manage and trim it down low a bit.

Not bad for a 15G and blue box, not at all. For the kid who said he dynoed his DX tranny in 2nd gear, 2nd is not even close to 1:1.

4th gear is the close to 1:1 on most Honda's except for the CX/DX/LX/VX trannies, in which 3rd is closer to 1:1.

Nice numbers.

I made 194whp 190tq with the same Greddy kit on a bone stock D16Y7 @ 10psi

Not bad. Definately time for the Uberdata and 450's though.

I used 380 DSMs on mine and didn't have a problem. So either 450's or 380's will work depending on how much you can get either one for.
