Fuel Line Differences
Can anyone help me ID the fuel line differences (as to order a replacement) between the 88 and 89+ CRX fittings? To the best I can tell, the fuel hard lines on the 88 chassis I have has a significantly shorter threaded body (the nut on the tapered hard line) than the rubber fuel line connector (off my 89 CRX Si) I have.
I presume this is an 88 vs. 89+ issue as the chassis is an 88, the fuel filter's two lines are off my 89 and I have a cut up 88 DX fuel line that fits properly. I have tried to identify the PN or difference in parts between the 88 and 89 up but unfortunately Majestic's site seems to have very little matching these days (images to parts descriptions). If anyone can help and give me a PN and or what else this fuel line might be from (where I could purchase today/tomorrow), I would greatly appreciate it.
Again, talking about the fuel line running into the fuel filter that comes off the firewall (w/ the fixed mount on the firewall). TIA

I would say try calling the Honda dealer tommorow, They'll have to order it but it will be here thursday at the latest, and maybe sooner if you tell them to put it on the daily order.
Is there anything they didn't change between 88 and 89?
Seems like everything on the 88s is a one off deal, it's crazy.

.Ryan, I am not sure that's a practical solution. Perhaps some flex braided line but that still ignores the issue that I'd need to secure it on one side of the firewall (and pulling that line out isn't something I would like to do).
Doc, I'll probably have to do just that and yeah, it does seem that there are a couple odd one-offs on the 88s. What's weird is that I looked at two Civic hatches today w/ the same "looking" attachment (and they never made an 88 Hatch right?). So I am wondering if its an 88 CRX and all Civic thing (??). There appears to be 2 distinct styles, one w/ 8 or so threads, one w/ 5. The 5 threaded connectors seem to be smooth on the outside, the 8 threaded types have this odd groove. I might try U-Pull-It or the Beaver tomorrow (if open). Thanks much.

If you get a hankering for a new one, let me know, I can get you a deal on Honda and Acura stuff. Good looking race car by the way, I hope to have something like that one day. Do only do SCCA stuff or do you go to NASA events as well? I don't remember seeing you at any NASA events, just wondering.

Thanks, that's great. Are you with one of the dealerships? I would not mind getting a new one at all but thought distinguishing between this threaded type and the latter might prove more down time than I want right now. I really want this car to fire up in the very near term (and spraying fuel on the firewall isn't helping me near that goal LOL). I will try for something tomorrow and still replace w/ a new one (relegating whatever I may find to backup ... not like I'm likely to find one easily at the track
)
No, I took the first car to Lowes and Kershaw in the first year of Honda Challenge (old paint scheme):

If you were at VIR Full this year, I raced the black/silver #23 944 Turbo (not my car).
I definitely plan to take v2 to a couple HC races once she's completed. Hopefully will have the car ready for LMS in a couple weeks for the SCCA SARRC/ECR. Thus my rush to fire up the motor and finally hear her run

I work at Acura, and have access to parts at Honda as well. I'm not sure if I was with NASA for the first year of honda challenge, but I was at VIR this year, I was in timing and scoring, so I guarantee I saw your car on every single lap.
If you want me to order you anything, just let me know. Email me and we'll get in touch. When is the Lowes event, and are spectators/groupies allowed?

Excellent, I found out that the connection is the same apparently on all 1988s and then 89+ are different. That would be for 88 Civic sedans as well as the 88 CRX. I ended up getting a used one so I could fire the motor up tonight so that was a great end result. I would be interested when you get a chance to see if the 88 and 89+ fuel feed (?? is that the name) connection/line are listed as different P/Ns. Seems that noone thinks there is a difference (guess its rather rare to pull one off for any reason).
Lowes is on June 18-19th (http://www.ccrscca.com/ should have info as it approaches). I know it is typically a little hit or miss how LMS is w/ spectators paddock side (infield) but I think you'd have no problems getting in from the stands side. Hit me up w/ an IM if you plan to go.

For the fuel hose running from the fuel filter to the fuel rail:
88 CRX Si: 16722-PM6-004
89 CRX Si: 16722-PM6-004
90 CRX Si: 16722-PM6-004
91 CRX Si: 16722-PM6-004
So they're all the same. Interesting...

they may have been different in the past and the old part number superceded...
Honda Does this when they find out they can stop making a part..
like DX and SI valve springs used to be different...
now they just sell the SI versions for both cars.

All I can say is the dx ruber line that goes from the fuel filter to the fail is different. The hole thats in it is postioned differently.
So if you tried to use a dx line with a b16 fuel rail, it might work, but I had to drill my fuel rail. I did not want to take any chances.
Might not of helped you, but I did not have time to read the topic.

Hey Doc, I appreciate you looking that up. I think you are looking however at the "other" line. The one I am referring to is the fuel line running into the fuel filter that comes off the firewall (w/ the fixed mount on the firewall). It has this rather odd brass colored cap that would be in the same plane to the chassis' fuel line, it has a built in mounting tab (about 1" wide, shaped like a Z, maybe 3" long total w/out the bends) on one side and the opposite side is the rubber hose that runs into the fuel filter. I would think the fuel filter to fuel rail lines are all the same (hell, I would have thought these fuel lines where the same too LOL). But thanks nonetheless.
