while driving down the road, mainly around 40+ mph, the speedo jumps ALL OVER THE PLACE....last time this happened, the battery and alternator were fried and the whole cluster fucked up, lights dimmed, etc., but i know its not that because the speedo is the only thing jumping....also, if im cruising at 60 (for example) and the speedo is jumping, when i release the gas and the speedo goes below the speed im cruising at, the car sputters.....please help....also, im gonna be doing either an ls/vtec, h22, itr, or k20a swap VERY soon (i got the money but cant decide, im gonna be boostin btw)...should i fix the problem b4 i swap?

 

the speedo on my civic was all messed up...same deal jumping all over the place...getting stuck at 20 mph even when i was stopped or doing well over 20. I picked a new one up on EBAY for $40 and it was a quick fix.

 

cool, but did it sputter when the needle went below the speed you were traveling at?

 

might be the vss.... not sure about the spuddering....

 

well, im gonna change out the cluster to an si anyway (its an lx cluster), but could it have to do with my ecu? is it possible it may stop when i do one of the swaps listed above?

Check your speed sensor. I changed out my motor and the speed sensor was fucked up on the new one and it was ****** with my car bad. Changed it and it was all gravy

 

i had a cluster that did that.....i swapped in a gsr motor and it was fixed....so try that.

also bought an ex/si cluster, and swapped it all in at the same time, so i don't know what was broken about it.....probably vss

 

where is the speed sensor at? or will that be changed when i put my new set up in?

 

it's on top of the tranny, you'll get a new one with you're swap....i'd not worry about it.
