what size speakers in my 96 vtec?
Ok i've read in the archives the speakers in the door and rear are 6.5. can anyone confirm? and i've read the single speaker between the rear seats is either a single 6X9 which seems kinda strange, or an 8''. anyone know for sure which one? lastly, what size are the tweeters on the dash?
Also i'd appreciate any opinions on how my system would sound by replacing all these speakers with some good quality ones, as well as the deck. I know everyone likes 10's and 12's, but i don't care for that much bass, just want a good crisp sound with decent bass. thanks for any info

the door speakers are 6.5", the rear is a 6x9" and the tweeters are 2" I think. I hear infinity makes a good full component set that I have heard good things about.

rear deck:
pioneer 3 ways
any type of infiniti's, even their coaxles
any type of bostin acoustics
components:
boustin acoustics if you have the money
image dynamics
-if you are not planning on powering these with an external amp then i would recommend just getting kenwood all around
-o and btw the sizes are 6.5 door and rear deck, 6x9 for the rear middle, and the tweeter size does not matter because you can mount just about any size in there
i would also atleast get an 8 inch sub to balance out the components and coaxles because u will have a much more balanced out range with them

can i put a 8'' in place of the single 6x9 in the back? how am i suppose to buy a single 6x9, i was hoping that speaker was an 8''. And i do already have boston sl65 components ready to go in, thanks for the rec for them, they are awesome speakers. I always hear about mb quart and such as being the best speakers, but i definately like the boston acoustics.

No you cannot just buy an 8", its not wide enough (hence the oval shape) and you also really can't buy just one 6x9, you have to buy a set (as far as I've found) and oh yea, its spelled boston acoustics to whomever mentioned those, and they are top of the line, higher than bose. I have a friend who works there and outfitted his accord with them, they are unbeatable.

haha yea sorry about the spelling, i was at work, and i have some crucial ADD which allows me to spell the same word wrong 2 different ways haha
-u will not b able to fit the 8" as max said, but if u dont need your rear fold down there are other possibilities...
im guessing that since u have a set of sl65 components you are driving them, but for your rear deck speakers, nothing beats the pioneer mosfet60 in the pe8mp (spelling?) which powers 35 watts rms x4...enough to make your ears bleed and make u go deaf by 30.
unfortunately, it is about $270 http://www.ikesound.com

Those arn't components. Those are Coax. Good ones for the rear deck, but if you want good sound w/o a sub. You will need a good set of components w/ a good amp to push them. You will also need to seal and dampen the doors. That 35w HU won't push a half decent pair of components well enough to get good midbass.
Just my $0.02

I just replaced everything in my prelude. Here is a thread in the A/V forum outlining exactly what I used:
