Default Measuring speakers

How speakers are measured [diameter-wise]. Does the measurement entail JUST the cone? Cone and surround? Cone, surround and basket?? Sorry for such a newbie question. I've never really thought about how speakers were measured.

i am assuming you are trying to find out what size speakers you have.
I willl save u the trouble of measuring.
you have 5 1/4" in the front and 6x9" in the back.
u measure speakers from edge to edge.

Well, problem being that some punkasses stole the whole rear speaker pods a few years ago....bodyshop replaced them with some dual cone kenwoods. Time for an upgrade. Just wondering what size they're using
